UPSC IES 2020: Applications for the great exam open till 1 September
UPSC IES 2020, registration for the well-known exam has commenced and candidates can apply till 1 September.
UPSC IES also known as Union Public Service Commission Indian Economic Service is the administrative inter-ministerial and inter-departmental civil service under Group A of the Central Civil Services of the executive branch of the Government of India.
The exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). A notification brought out by UPSC said the IES exam this year, UPSC IES 2020 will be aiming to fill 20 vacancies.
The registration for UPSC IES 2020 began on 11 August and the last date to apply for the government exam is 1 September. Candidates can apply till 6 pm of 1 September.
The admit card of UPSC IES 2020 will tenatively be available for download about three weeks before the commencement of the exam.
The official website for the exam ‘https://www.upsconline.nic.in’ can be visited by applicants of the UPSC IES 2020 about three weeks before the commencement of the exam so as to download the hall-tickets.
Applicants also can keep track of their email id and mobile numbers they provide while filling the application for UPSC IES 2020.

The intimation about the availability of the link to download the hall tickets for the exam will be likely sent to them.
UPSC IES 2020 exam will be conducted from 16 October 2020 for a period of three days.
The result for the exam will be declared likely by November this year and interview/personality test will be conducted by December this year.
The final result for UPSC IES 2020 will be released in January 2021.
The eligibility for applying for the exam is that the candidate must have a post graduate degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a recognised educational institution.
Candidates who have studied the same degree from a foreign university can also apply for the exam, provided the foreign university where the candidate studied should be recognised by central government.
Even candidates who are about to write the final exam of their qualifying degree can also apply for UPSC IES 2020.
However, candidate should have passed the exam by the time he would be attending the interview. Candidate applying for UPSC IES 2020 must be an Indian citizen.
Even subjects of Nepal, Bhutan or Tibetan refugee who have come to India before 1 January 1962 with a motive to settle in India permanently can also apply for the exam if they have the eligibility certificate issued by Government of India.
These candidates may be allowed to sit for the exam but for having the appointment order must produce the eligibility certificate provided by central government.
The applicant for UPSC IES 2020 must have attained the age of 21 and must not have attained 30 years on 1 August 2020.
Candidate must have been born not earlier than 2 August, 1990 and not later than 1 August, 1999.
However there is a relaxation of upper age limit of five years for candidates who belong to SC/ST categories.
The age relaxation with regards to upper age limit is three years in the case of candidate belonging to Other
Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
Candidates must remember that the process to apply for the exam is online. Applicants must visit the official website of UPSC at ‘https://www.upsconline.nic.in/mainmenu2.php’ and click the appropriate link for application.
Application process for UPSC IES 2020 is divided into two parts, Part 1 and Part 2. Candidates must first complete Part 1 of the process and then move to Part 2 of the process.
Once these two processes are complete, the process of application will also be complete.
Part 1 of the application process for UPSC IES 2020 comprises filling basic information.
The candidate has to provide general information like name, age, date of birth. On submission of the details, the candidate will be asked to check the given details and amend the application, if any.
Part 2 of the application process comprises filling up payment details (except for fee exempted candidates), uploading of photograph, signature, photo identity card document, selection of examination center and agreeing to declaration.
Sources further say, registrations received for UPSC IES 2020 from 11 August to 6 pm of 1 September will be treated as valid.
After filling all the details, candidates must give their final consent and press the required button.
After the final acceptance message is delivered, candidates can take a print out of it and preserve it for future uses.
The registration fee also has to be paid before completing the final submission. The fee is Rs 200 for all candidates except SC/ST/Female/PwD category candidates.
The fee can be paid using the net banking facility of SBI or using debit card, credit card.
As far as photos for uploading are concerned, the scanned images must be in JPG format.
The digital size of file should not exceed 300 KB each and must not be less than 20 KB and resolution 350 pixels (Width) X 350 pixels (Height) minimum, 1000 pixels (Width) X 1000 pixels (Height) maximum and Bit Depth of image file should be 24 bit.
As far as scanned image of signature of the candidate is concerned, it too must be uploaded. The size of the image must not exceed 300 KB each and must not be less than 20 KB and resolution 350 pixels (Width) X 350 pixels (Height) minimum, 1000 pixels (Width) X 1000 pixels (Height) maximum and Bit Depth of image file should be 24 bit.
The photo identity card of the candidate must be uploaded in PDF format only. The digital size of PDF file should not exceed 300 KB and must not be less than 20 KB.
