The current year did not prove a smooth sailing affair with regards to academic affairs and examinations.
Most of the exams had to be postponed, not only college examinations but also competitive examinations had to be held on some other day as corona virus outbreak brought everything to a standstill.
Needless to say, even UPSC CSE also was postponed this year. It is worth recollecting that even personality test held after mains exam of CSE of 2019 was also postponed owing to outbreak of corona virus.
Union Public Service Commission which conducts CSE or Civil Services Exam had even issued a new exam calendar in the recent past according to which UPSC CSE is to be conducted on October 4.
However, as good number of people favour conducting UPSC CSE on decided date of October 4, many feel time is not good enough to conduct the exam as the chances of contracting the infection is yet to subside.
Sources said, plea filed seeking the postponement was filed by a group of UPSC aspirants through lawyer Alakh Alok Srivastava.

It is not only the corona virus that has spread, but even natural calamities have ravaged many parts of the country. Amidst such a situation, appearing for the exam may be utmost difficult, said the petition.
The plea further said UPSC CSE though is an exam it is not like that of an academic exam. So, postponement of the UPSC CSE exam will not have any impact on any academic session, said the petition.
The petition further mentioned that though there was a spread of corona virus cases, there were no measures to increase the number of examination centres for UPSC CSE exam.
A bench comprising Justice A.M. Khanwilkar and Justice Sanjiv Khanna issued notices to central government and UPSC and posted the matter for hearing on September 28.
It is interesting to recollect that similar petitions were filed in the Supreme Court seeking postponement of JEE Mains April/September and NEET UG 2020.
The reasons seeking postponement also appeared to be similar. Many said the situation in the country was yet to turn safe for conducting NEET and JEE Mains.
However, the petitions were cancelled and both the popular exams were conducted as per the decided time. Now it remains to be seen if the same would happen with regards to UPSC CSE.
