UPSC CDS 2 2020: Candidates can apply for the great exam till 25 August
UPSC CDS 2 has been open for applying and candidates interesting in making a great career in armed forces of this nation can apply for it till 25 August.
UPSC CDS 2 also known as Union Public Service Commission Combined Defence Services 2 exam is conducted twice every year to recruit youngsters as officers in Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.
Upon passing this interview they have to report at Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy, Indian Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy for short service commission for training.
Upon successful completion of training the youngsters can join the armed forces as officers. UPSC CDS 2 will be fulfilling about 344 officer vacancies in Indian armed forces.
According to a notification released by UPSC with regards to UPSC CDS 2, there are 100 officer vacancies at Indian Military Academy (Dehradun), about 26 vacancies exist at Indian Naval Academy (Ezhimala).
As per official information with regards to UPSC CDS 2, the Indian Air Force Academy has 32 vacancies, the same at Officers Training Academy has 169 vacancies for Short Service Commission (SSC Men) and 17 vacancies for Short Service Commission (SSC Women).

The total number of vacancies UPSC CDS 2 is trying to fill will be 344.
The eligibility conditions for applying for UPSC CDS 2 exam is that applicant must be a citizen of India and be unmarried.
Even a subject of Nepal or persons of Indian origin who has migrated to India from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka
and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India can apply for UPSC CDS 2.
However, subjects of Nepal or persons of Indian origin who have come to India must obtain eligibility certificate from Government of India before applying for UPSC CDS 2.
As far as educational qualifications for applying for UPSC CDS 2 is concerned, candidates having any degree can apply for Officers Training Academy (OTA) and Indian Military Academy (IMA).
Candidates with any degree in engineering can apply for Indian Naval Academy. Applicants wishing to target Air Force Academy must have a degree in engineering or any other degree with physics and mathematics as subjects at 10+2 level.
Candidates who have chosen Air Force have also to attend Computer Pilot Selection System or Pilot Aptitude Battery Test to ensure they are fit enough to become pilots.
Candidates who are keen on Air Force can also choose OTA so that they could be considered for short service commission there.
Apart from qualification, UPSC CDS 2 enthusiasts must also ensure they are meeting the age requirements also before applying for the course.
Candidates targeting Indian Naval Academy must be born not earlier than 2 July 1997 and not later than 1st July 2002.
Applicants for Air Force Academy through UPSC CDS 2 must be 20 to 24 years of age as on 1 July 2021, that is he should not be born not earlier than 2 July 1997 and not later than 1 July 2002.
If the candidate has Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA is relaxable upto 26 years, he should be born not earlier than 2 July 1995 and not later than 1 July 2001.
For OTA Short Service Commission for men, candidates must be born not earlier than 2 July 1996 and not later than 1 July 2002.
The candidates applying for OTA Short Service Commission for women have to be born not earlier than 2 July 1996 and not later than 1st July 2002.
Candidate applying for UPSC CDS 2 exam have to remember that the process of applying is online and to apply for the exam applicants have to visit the official website of UPSC at url ‘https://upsconline.nic.in/mainmenu2.php’
Post the download of the webpage candidates can see two links, while one is for UPSC CDS 2 exam, the other is for Combined Medical Services Examination. Candidates have to click the link for UPSC CDS 2 exam.
The application for the exam is divided into two parts, namely Part 1 registration and Part 2 registration. Candidates have to complete Part 1 registration and valid user id.
Post obtaining user id applicant can go ahead with registering for UPSC CDS 2 exam.
In Part 1 registration for UPSC CDS 2 exam, applicants have to In Part I registration, candidate will have to fill basic information.
On submission of details, candidate will be prompted to check the details and make correction, if any, in the application.
In Part 1 of the registration, the candidate has to provide general information.
On submission of the details, the candidate will be asked to check the given details and amend the application, if any.
Part 2 of the registration comprises filling up payment details (except for fee exempted candidates), uploading of photograph, signature, Photo Identity Card Document, selection of examination center and Agreeing to Declaration.

After all the details are filled candidates can go ahead with paying the registration fee.
The registration fee for candidates of general category is Rs 200. Women applicants and applicants from SC,ST category need not pay any fee.
The fee can be paid by depositing money in any SBI branch or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using debit card or credit card.
To pay fee in cash, the candidate should take printout of challan generated online after completion of registration.
Candidate may go to nearest SBI branch for depositing fee after 24 hours of generation of challan.
“Pay by cash” mode option will be deactivated at 23.59 hours of 24-08-2020 ie one day before the closing date.
However, applicants who have generated their pay-in-slip before it is de-activated may pay at the counter of SBI Branch during banking hours on the closing date of application.
Those who wish to take back their applications can do it from 1 September till 6 pm of 7 September. Admit cards have to be downloaded, no candidates will get admit cards to their home.
The admit cards will be available for download three weeks before commencement of the examination. Candidates can go to the website ‘http://upsc.gov.in’ and download their hall-tickets.
Candidates have to give their own email id and mobile number while filling the application, this will ensure applicants receive the updates about the exam directly.
Candidates have to answer questions very carefully as wrong answers will lead to deduction of marks. There is a penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers.
