Understanding the UGC NET Admit Card and City Intimation Slip

The UGC NET admit card, which includes the exam centre details, will be released soon. Conversely, the city intimation slip reveals the exam city where candidates will sit for the exam. The UGC NET exam, now rescheduled to June 18, 2024, will cover 83 subjects. Initially set for June 16, 2024, the date was changed due to requests from candidates.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has recently issued the city intimation slip for the UGC NET June 2024 cycle on June 7, 2024. Candidates can download their UGC NET city slips from the official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in, using their application number and password. The application correction window for the UGC NET exam closed on May 23, 2024.

Section-wise Weightage of Paper 1 and Paper 2

• Paper 1: General aptitude, teaching and research aptitude, comprising 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for a total of 100 marks.
• Paper 2: Subject-specific, comprising 100 MCQs for a total of 200 marks.

Marking Scheme

• Each correct answer awards 2 marks.

Latest Updates: NTA NET Scores for PhD Admissions

The NTA and UGC have announced changes starting from the June cycle of the UGC NET exam:

• The exam will be conducted in OMR mode.
• Normalisation of marks will be discontinued.
• Candidates with a four-year UG degree and 75% marks can enrol in PhD programs using UGC NET scores.
• UGC NET scores will be used for PhD admissions, categorized into three sections:
  • Category 1: Eligible for JRF, Assistant Professorship, and PhD.
  • Category 2: Eligible for Assistant Professorship and PhD.
  • Category 3: Eligible for PhD based on interview and NET scores.
