UCEED 2021: Great, get ready for the exam
UCEED 2021, candidates who wish to pursue Bachelors in Design (B.Des) must focus on this exam. A pass in UCEED will provide students a gateway to study B.Des in prestigious institutes like IIT Bombay, IITDM Jabalpur and IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad.
About the exam
The name of the exam is Under Graduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED). This is a national level exam and is held once in a year. UCEED 2020 was conducted recently, candidates who have missed that can focus on UCEED 2021.
Applicants for UCEED 2021 must be about 25 years in age, this is relaxed to 5 years in case SC,ST and PwD category candidates.
Important dates
The important dates for UCEED 2021 are the issue of application will commence tentatively in second week of October 2020. Second week of November 2020 tentatively will be the last date for submission of application form.
While the last date for application submission with late fee of Rs 500 will tentatively be in third week of November 2020. UCEED 2021 exam dates is expected to be in fourth week of January 2021.
The UCEED 2020 application registration began on 9 October 2019, last date to submit with regular fee was 15 November 2019. And last date to submit the application with late fee was 20 November 2019.
How to apply
The procedure for applying for UCEED 2021 in online just like what was followed for UCEED 2020. Candidates have to click the official link ‘www.uceed.in’ after the page downloads candidates can click register online.
Applicants for UCEED 2021 must first register and obtain the password and username. Post registration, candidates can login with their user id and password and then go ahead with applying for the exam.
Application fee
The application fee for UCEED 2021 is Rs 1500 for SC,ST and PwD candidates and female candidates. For all other candidates it is Rs 3000. Foreign nationals from SAARC countries have to pay application fee of USD 200, the same for foreign candidates from Non-SAARC countries is USD 325.
Registration fee for examination centres in Dubai is USD 200 for Indian national residing in other countries (PIO/OCI). The same for foreign national candidates of SAARC countres is USD 200 and for candidates of non-SAARC nations is USD 325.
Applicants must remember that fee has to be paid for UCEED 2021 along with the required charges that banks are going to levy.
Exam pattern
UCEED 2021 exam will have two parts namely Part A and Part B. Candidates have to pass both Part A and Part B to get shortlisted for an interview.
The shortlisted candidates for interview of UCEED 2021 will have to prepare a portfolio to produce during the interview.
Part A will be of 2 hours 30 minutes duration and will carry 240 marks totally. This will be computer based test. Part B will have 60 marks and will be for a duration of 30 minutes. Both the parts must be answered in time of three hours.
Syllabus
UCEED 2021 syllabus is divided into two sections namely Part A and Part B.
Part A
Visualization and Spatial Ability, Environmental and Social Awareness, Analytical and Logical Reasoning,
Language and Creativity, Design Thinking and Problem Solving and Observation and Design Sensitivity.
Part B
Drawing, Creativity, Communication Skills, Problem Identification Skills.
Points to remember
Candidates from the Science Stream with Physics, Chemistry and Maths as subjects are eligible to apply to all the four institutes.(IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad and IIITDM Jabalpur) Candidates from any other stream (Science without Maths or Physics or Chemistry, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible to apply to only IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad and IIITDM Jabalpur.
If a qualifying examination Board (plus-two) awards only letter grades without providing information on the passing grade on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying the passing grade and upload it along with the grade sheet.
