Study B.Tech ? No need of Chemistry
Study B.Tech? No need of Chemistry – There is yet another round of happy news for engineering aspirants in this country. Sources say, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is said to have ruled that Chemistry is not mandatory for admission into B.Tech and B.E. courses in the country.
Students who have completed higher secondary course with maths, physics along with other subjects like Biology, Biotechnology will also be eligible to get into admission into engineering courses from next academic year.
Sources further say, while Physics and Mathematics will continue to be mandatory for admission into engineering courses from academic year 2020-21, students with either of the optional subjects will also be eligible for the admission into engineering courses.
This simply means that students till now had to show the presence of three subjects namely, Maths, Physics and Chemistry in their qualifying exam (plus-two) mark sheet while seeking admission into engineering courses.
However, from next academic session onward, students can choose any other optional subjects other than Maths and Physics in Class 12 like Biotechnology, Agriculture and yet seek admission into engineering courses.
Experts in the field of technical education feel that this move is apt as there are good number of engineering subjects which do not require chemistry that much like Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Naval Architecture. Students seeking admission into these courses do not need knowledge in Chemistry.
