Rhodes Trust Announces Sixth Rhodes Scholarship for Indian Students to Join Oxford University in 2026
Rhodes Scholarship: The first round will occur in the next year when the chosen candidate is expected to report to Oxford for the fall of 2026. Rhodes Trust has announced the launching of the sixth Rhodes Scholarship for India, through which Indian students will be able to study at Oxford University. The first scholar in this round is set to join in 2026 and follows on from a tradition of academic excellence and public service in a way that creates a beacon of excellence.
The Rhodes Trust has unveiled the sixth Rhodes Scholarship for India, in collaboration with its first scholarship scholarship recipient who is expected to join in 2026, as it marks the per endowment Rhodes Scholarship to provide Indian scholars with the opportunity to study at the University of Oxford.

Rhodes official, “The Trust is deeply grateful to Dr Mukund Rajan (India & Worcester 1989) and Mrs Soumya Rajan for their generosity and leadership in establishing this Scholarship, and for the partnership of an American Rhodes Scholar and his wife, and the University of Oxford, in providing additional funding to secure its permanence.”.
Elizabeth Kiss (Virginia and Balliol 1983), Warden and Chief Executive of the Rhodes Trust announced a new Rhodes Scholarship for India at a reception in New Delhi on 26 September. Invited guests included representatives of the Radhakrishnan-Rajan family, US. Eric Garcetti Ambassador to India (New York and Queen’s 1993), his wife Amy Wakeland (Michigan and Wadham 1993), Dhvani Mehta (India and Magdalen 2009), the Rhodes National Secretary for India, and Rhodes Trustee Menaka Guruswamy (India and University 1998).
