NIT Andhra Pradesh is inviting applications to its research programmes for the next academic year 2021-22. The last date to apply is 10 June.
The applications invited by NIT Andhra Pradesh include applications for PhD (both full-time and part-time) as well as MS (by research) in engineering and technology.

The PhD programmes
NIT Andhra Pradesh offers PhD programmes in engineering disciplines – Bio Bio-Technology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.
It also offers PhD programmes in sciences, humanities and management subjects namely Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Management.
Point to remember
Applicants can do PhD in the above mentioned disciplines either on full-time basis or part-time basis.
Individuals can purse PhD in the above mentioned disciplines at NIT Andhra Pradesh either or full-time or part-time basis.
PhD (full-time)
Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA) is available to the full-time scholars who are admitted to Ph.D. programmes in different departments at NIT Andhra Pradesh, subject to the availability as stipulated by the Ministry of Education (MoE).
The award and renewal of the assistantship/scholarship are as per the guidelines issued by MoE, from time to time.
The recipients of HTRA are required to assist the department in academic works.
PhD (part-time)
These positions are open for the candidates who are working on a regular basis in reputed research organizations/Academic Institutions/Industries with a minimum experience of two years.
The applicants are not entitled to receive institute stipend.
Ph.D.(Part-Time) positions are also open for the faculty members currently working at NIT Andhra Pradesh on an ad-hoc basis.

Eligibility
PhD (engineering-fulltime)
Candidates willing to apply for PhD in NIT Andhra Pradesh under this scheme must have
a master’s degree in Engineering/Technology or a master’s degree by Research in
Engineering/Technology in appropriate branches.
Applicants who belong to UR/EWS/OBC-NCL category must have secured 60% (or above) aggregate marks (CGPA of 6.5) either at UG or PG level examination.

For SC/ST/PwD candidates, 55% aggregate (or above) marks or equivalent CGPA of 6.0 is essential either at UG or PG level.
Candidates should have qualified GATE or NET in the relevant disciplines.
PhD (engineering part-time)
Individuals desiring to apply for PhD in part-time at NIT Andhra Pradesh must be working on a regular basis in reputed research organizations/Academic Institutions/Industries with a minimum experience of two years.
Candidates must have a master’s degree in Engineering/Technology or a Master’s degree by Research in Engineering/Technology in appropriate branches.
•Candidates belong to UR/EWS/OBC-NCL category must have secured 60% (or above) aggregate marks (CGPA of 6.5) either at UG or PG level examination.
For SC/ST/PwD candidates, 55% aggregate (or above) marks or equivalent CGPA of 6.0 is essential either at UG or PG level.
PhD (English and Science full time)
Candidates willing to apply for PhD under this category for NIT Andhra Pradesh with a master’s degree in Sciences or English in relevant branch of Science/English.
Candidates should have qualified GATE or UGC/CSIR-NET in relevant discipline.
Candidates belong to UR/EWS/OBC-NCL category must have secured 60% (or above) aggregate marks (CGPA of 6.5) either at UG or PG level examination. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, 55% aggregate (or above) marks or equivalent CGPA of 6.0 is essential either at UG or PG level.
PhD (English and Science part time)
Candidates willing to apply for under this category at NIT Andhra Pradesh must be having masters degree in Sciences and English.
Candidates belong to UR/EWS/OBC-NCL category must have secured 60% (or above) aggregate marks (CGPA of 6.5) either at UG or PG level examination.
For SC/ST/PwD candidates, 55% aggregate (or above) marks or equivalent CGPA of 6.0 is essential either at UG or PG level.

Candidates aspiring to apply in NIT Andhra Pradesh for this programme must have passed MBA or master’s degree in relevant branch of management.
Candidates belong to UR/EWS/OBC-NCL category must have secured 60% (or above) aggregate marks (CGPA of 6.5) either at UG or PG level examination.
For SC/ST/PwD candidates, 55% aggregate (or above) marks or equivalent CGPA of 6.0 is essential either at UG or PG level
Candidates should be working on a regular basis in reputed research organizations/academic institutions/industries with a minimum experience of two years.
MS (by research)
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology with a good academic record.
Candidates should be working on a Regular basis in reputed research organizations/academic institutions/industries with a minimum experience of two years.
Selection method
Applicants for the PhD programmes and MS (by research) must attend a written test.
Candidates who pass the written test have to attend an interview.
Final selection for admission into these programmes at NIT Andhra Pradesh will be made based on the performace in written test and interview.

Soon after the website downloads, candidates can choose the button ‘Application Portal’ and click it and commence registration.
Post registration, applicants can login with help of username and password obtained during the registration and start applying for the admission into PhD or MS (by research) programmes.
Applicants have to provide the required information, upload needed documents, pay the registration fee and then submit the application form.
Registration fee
The registration fee for applying for admission into PhD or MS (by research) programmes at NIT Andhra Pradesh is Rs 1000 for candidates of Open Category.
The same for SC/ST/PwD category candidates is Rs 500.

The last date to apply for the admission is 10 June 2021.
