NID DAT 2022 will be held on 2 January next year and students who have registered for the exam can download the admit card. Hall ticket has to be downloaded and the print out of it has to be taken.
NID DAT 2022 will be conducted in two stages – prelims and mains. A pass in these two exams is needed for students who wish to study bachelors or masters in Design (BDes or MDes) at National Institutes of Design (NID).

Procedure to download hall ticket for NID DAT 2022
Candidates have to visit the official website of National Institute of Design at ‘https://www.nid.edu/home’
Soon after the webpage downloads, they can scroll down the page and click the link ‘Admissions 2022-23’ After clicking ‘Admissions 2022-23’ another webpage would download with url ‘https://admissions.nid.edu/NIDA2022/Default.aspx’
Soon after the webpage with above url downloads, candidates can see the link for downloading the hall ticket for NID DAT 2022. They should click the link and enter their email address and date of birth and submit them and download the admit card.

Once the hall ticket for NID DAT 2022 exam prelims is downloaded completely, students must check for the accuracy in the details on the admit card. The details like name of candidate, exam centre, date of birth, application number should be checked for any errors.
In case of errors, they can take it to the notice of authorities concerned for corrections. If no mistakes are there on the admit card for NID DAT 2022 prelims exam, students can take a printout and preserve it.

Exam pattern
Candidates have to remember that NID DAT 2022 will be conducted in two phases – prelims and mains . The hall ticket they will be downloading is for prelims exam.
Both the phases will be having different exam patterns. A pass in both of these are required to gain admission, to get the required score, candidates have to prepare well for which they should know the way the exams (prelims and mains) would be conducted.
Prelims for BDes
The duration of NID DAT 2022 prelims exam will be of three hours and the test is going to be in pen and paper mode. The medium of the prelims test of NID DAT 2022 will be English.
The maximum marks will be 100 and questions that would appear in the exam are objective and subjective types. The total number of questions will be 26.
The questions will be classified into Section 1 and Section 2 in NID DAT 2022 prelims exam. Section 1 will have about 22 questions of 1 mark and 2 marks.
Section will have questions of 15 marks and 20 marks. This test would analyse factors like Analysis ability, Creativity, Knowledge and Visualization ability of the candidates.
Mains for BDes
NID DAT 2022 mains exam will also be conducted in English medium and the duration to answer all the questions in the exam is three hours. The maxium marks are 100.
The exam is usually conducted in offline mode, however for the past two years, it is being held in online mode owing to COVID-19 situation. The mode of the exam could be either offline or online, the decision would be taken depending on the situation then.
This consists of two rounds – studio round and personal interview round. Studio round comprises tests like drawing, sketching, model making, presentations and others.
Personal interview would comprise interaction where the candidates are to be asked about their interests, reason behind joining the course and others.
In case of this exam being conducted online, candidates have to upload theme posters on the given topics in a single PDF file whose size should not go beyond 10 MB.
Students who pass the prelims exam of NID DAT 2022 and apply for Mains exam will get the topics for theme presentations on their email id. Candidates must also send a digital record of their sample work in a single PDF file whose size does not go beyond 10 MB.

For MDes
Prelims
The prelims exam of NID DAT 2022 for MDes admission is of 2 hours and 30 minutes. This comprises Common Design Aptitude Test (CDAT) and discipline specific test.
The discipline specific test is for two hours and CDAT is for 30 minutes. If there are two disciplines then the test duration would be 4 hours 30 minutes. The questions will be of objective and subjective type and total marks for the test are 100.
Mains
This exam is generally held in offline mode for a duration of three hours and total marks are 100. This will contain studio test where the candidates have to present their work on set themes.
Post, studio test, there would be an interview round, where candidates would be asked various questions. The mains exam, particularly, the studio round could be conducted online if the need arises.
