NEET PG 2022 counselling has been postponed with an objective of adding more seats. Students are now waiting for the announcement of new dates (schedule) with regards to the counselling.
The test conducted for providing admission into postgraduate medical courses was held on 21 May 2022 and the result for that was announced in 10 days time. NEET PG 2022 counselling was to begin on 01/09/2022. However, that did not happen.
Why was NEET PG 2022 counselling postponed? Notice on the website of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) said ‘The Candidates of NEET-PG, 2022 are informed that the NEET-PG Counselling, 2022 was scheduled to commence from 01/09/2022.
However, National Medical Commission (NMC) is in the process of issuing New LoPs for the current academic year and the same will be concluded till 15/09/2022. Hence, in order to include more seats in the counselling for the benefit of the candidates, it has been decided by the Competent Authority to re-schedule the NEET PG Counselling 2022 which was scheduled to commence from 01/09/2022.’
New dates for NEET PG 2022 counselling
The announcement is yet to be made with regards to NEET PG 2022 counselling. The notice on the website of MCC which mentioned about the postponement of counselling has said the students can visit its website for latest information on NEET PG 2022 counselling schedule.

Candidates have to wait for the new schedule for NEET PG 2022 counselling and then register for taking part in it by following the required process. They can visit the official website of MCC which is ‘https://mcc.nic.in/WebinfoMedical/Page/Page?PageId=1&LangId=P’
The process of counselling is where students can register and choose the college to study the course of their choice. NEET PG 2022 counselling will be held in more than one rounds, candidates who could not get a seat in the college of their choice can try in subsequent rounds.

Students can visit the above mentioned website and click on the link for registration to create an account comprising username and password. Post creation of an account, candidates can login and then fill the form for NEET PG 2022 counselling.
Details like the name of the candidates, age, date of birth, qualification information, entrance exam information have to be provided. Candidates can also indicate the choice of the course and college they desire to study during NEET PG 2022 counselling.

There will be four rounds of NEET PG 2022 counselling, first round, second round, mop up round and stray vacancy round. Students who do not get the seat of their choice can try in subsequent rounds. Seat allotment is done based on availability of seats, reservation criteria, choice of the candidates, performance in the entrance exam.

The decision to conduct NEET PG 2022 counselling on another date has managed to generate mixed reactions. Certain sections of the students feel the delay in NEET PG 2022 counselling means, delay in commencement of further processes, this may likely show an impact on the studies and career.
There is also a side that is bright. Those who take this side are of the view that there will be more number of seats in the postgraduate medical courses in colleges across India. More number of seats means greater scope for many to pursue post graduation in medicine.
