UPSC NDA & NA (I) 2025 Notification: Important Updates And Everything You Need to Know

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially announced the schedule for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) Examination (I) 2025. This exam provides an opportunity for candidates to join the 155th NDA Course and the 117th Indian Naval Academy Course. The NDA & NA (I) 2025 examination will be conducted on April 13, 2025. Candidates selected through this examination will join the respective academies for the courses commencing in January 2026.

Application Process of UPSC NDA & NA (I) 2025

How to Apply

  • Candidates must submit their applications online at upsconline.gov.in.
  • Application Deadline: December 31, 2024, by 6:00 PM.
  • Correction Period: Applicants will have the chance to correct errors in their submitted forms from January 1 to January 7, 2025.

Candidates should ensure their information is accurate and complete, as any discrepancies could lead to rejection.

Application Fee

  • General/OBC/EWS Candidates: ₹100
  • SC/ST and Sons of JCOs/NCOs/ORs: Exempted
  • Payment can be made online or through offline methods as specified in the application portal.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age Limit: Applicants must have been born between July 2, 2006, and July 1, 2009.
  • Nationality: Indian citizens, subjects of Nepal, or individuals of Indian origin who meet specific criteria are eligible.
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent exam from an approved board in order to be considered for the Army Wing.
    • Candidates must have completed Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in Class 12 in order to be considered for the Air Force and Naval Wings. 

Examination Format

The NDA & NA (I) 2025 Exam will consist of the following components:

Written Test:

  • Mathematics is worth 300 marks.
  • The General Ability Test (GAT) is worth 600 marks.

SSB Interview:

  • Shortlisted candidates will proceed to the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview, which carries 900 marks.

The written test will feature negative marking for incorrect answers.

Vacancies

A total of 406 vacancies have been announced, distributed as follows:

  • National Defence Academy (NDA): 370
    • Army Wing: 208 (10 for female candidates)
    • Navy Wing: 42 (06 for female candidates)
    • Air Force Wing:(i) Flying -92 (including 02 for female applicants)
      (ii) Technical Ground Tasks: 18 (including 02 for female applicants)
      (iii) Non-technical Ground Duties: 10 (incorporating 02 for female candidates) 
  • Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme): 36

These numbers are subject to change based on further announcements by UPSC.

Additional Information

  • The exam date is set for April 13, 2025, and it will be conducted at designated centers across India.
  • Admit cards will be made available approximately seven days prior to the exam date.
  • Final selection will depend on a combination of written exam scores, SSB performance, and medical fitness.
