NDA and NA 2023 Exam: For a great career in armed forces

NDA and NA 2023 Exam (II) registration will open on 17 May 2023. Individuals who have a strong desire to be a part of our armed forces can aim for this exam. This is the second edition.
Union Public Service Commission conducts this exam twice a year. The first edition is called NDA and NA Exam (I) and the second edition is called NDA and NA (II). Registration for the first edition – NDA and NA 2023 Exam (I) took place from 21 December 2022 to 10 January 2023.


The second edition of the exam – NDA and NA 2023 Exam (II) will be opened on 17 May 2023 and will be closed on 6 June 2023. The application submission for the first edition is over, the second edition will be opened soon.
What is NDA and NA 2023 Exam?
The full name is National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Exam. This is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) twice every year. NDA and NA 2023 Exam is meant to be conducted two times in 2023.
Students who wish to join Indian Army, Indian Navy or Indian Air Force have to appear for this test and pass it with the required qualifying marks. Those who pass the exam will be called for an interview.

The interview will test the candidates for their psychological abilities, team working abilities, communication skills, and leadership skills. Candidates passing these exams will have to undergo a physical fitness test and medical examination.
Individuals passing the physical fitness test, and medical examination will get selected. Those who are selected can convey their acceptance and join the armed forces.


Who can apply for the exam?
Candidates who have passed plus-two from a recognized educational institution located anywhere in India can apply for NDA and NA 2023 Exam. Students aiming for Air Force and Navy must pass plus-two preferably with maths, physics and chemistry as subjects in plus-two.
The age limit to apply for NDA and NA 2023 Exam is 16 years at the minimum and 19 years at the maximum. The height of the applicants must be 157.5 cm at minimum for the army.
The same for the Navy and Air Force is 157 cm and 162.5 cm respectively. The height requirement at the minimum for female candidates is 152 cm. Candidates must also have good vision in their eyes.
Applicants must be in a position to read a distant vision chart with or without spectacles at 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye. As far as INA (Indian Naval Academy) is concerned, the applicants must have a vision of 6/60, and 6/60 as per minimum acceptable distance vision standards and they can be correctable to 6/6 and 6/12 with spectacles.

Individuals focused on NDA and NA 2023 Exam must ensure they have the required physical and medical fitness before applying for the test. Not ensuring fitness would result in rejection during the interview process.

How to apply?
The process to apply for NDA and NA 2023 Exam is online and candidates have to visit the official website of UPSC to submit applications. The URL to reach the official website is ‘https://www.upsc.gov.in/’
The URL mentioned above has to be typed into the browser of the computer and the website has to be allowed to download. Once the web page is available in the browser, the candidates have to click the ‘One Time Registration (OTR)’ link.
Post clicking the link, candidates can provide details like their name, date of birth, and email id and create an account comprising a username and password. Once the account is ready, candidates can log in and view the menu of exams available for applying, applicants have to choose NDA and NA 2023 Exam and start filling the application form.
The form has to be filled and registration fee has to be paid and submitted. Post submission, applicants have to wait for the message indicating successful submission, once it is obtained, it can be downloaded and a printout of it has to be taken and preserved for future use.
