About MEXT Scholarship 2022
Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is offering the scholarship.
Individuals availing this scholarship will be able to study undergraduate, graduate and research courses at Japanese universities.
MEXT Scholarship is usually available in seven categories – Research Student, Undergraduate students, College of Technology students, Specialised Training College Students, Japanese Study Students, Young Leaders Programme Students and Teacher Training Students.
However, at the moment, MEXT Scholarship 2022 is open for application in the first four categories – Research student, undergraduate students, College of Technology students and Specialised Training College students.
Applicants can apply through any of these four categories to study various courses.
Eligibility
Research student category
Candidates willing to apply for MEXT Scholarship 2022 under this category must have completed post graduation and graduation in the respective discipline with the required pass percentage.
Undergraduate students
Applicants under this category of MEXT Scholarship 2022 must have passed their plus-two or equivalent from a recognised educational institutions with the required subjects.
College of Technology students
Individuals applying for MEXT Scholarship 2022 under this category must also have passed their plus-two with required pass percentage.
The subjects at plus-two must be maths, physics and chemistry.
The students must be studying in one of the engineering disciplines in recognised institutions in India.
Specialised Training College students
Students applying for MEXT Scholarship 2022 under this category have to passes plus-two with required pass percentage.
Applicants for this scholarship get to study advanced diploma courses which provide higher level skills in the field of medical care, technology, culture and general education and others.
Point to remember
The minimum pass percentage in qualifying degrees for applying for MEXT Scholarship 2022 in all four categories is 65.
Applicants must also declare that they are in good health.
Individuals willing to apply for grants through MEXT Scholarships 2022 must also be proficient in Japanese language.
Preference will likely go to those candidates who are proficient in Japanese language.

The complete application for MEXT Scholarship 2022 must reach the Japanese consulates or Japanese Embassy by post or courier and email.

Students in Karnataka can send their applications to ‘Consulate General of Japan in Bengaluru, 1st Floor, Prestige Nebula, No.8-14, Cubbon Road, Bengaluru 560001’
Students in other states and union territories can send their applications to ‘Embassy of Japan, 50-G, Shantipath, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi 110021’

The last date for applying for MEXT Scholarship 2022 under Research student category is May 16.
The last date to apply for MEXT Scholarship 2022 under other three categories is 28 May.
Applicants who have been shortlisted have to attend further processes like written test or interviews.
Candidates have to be prepared to attend them.
