KU releases PhD entrance application

KU releases PhD entrance application form for entrance exam ‘RDET’ to seek admission into various PhD programmes being offered by the educational institution. There are 325 vacancies for PhD in the university across 28 courses. Hindi, Sanskrit, English, History, Commerce, Tourism, Education are among the courses.
Candidates who have post graduate degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum pass percentage of 55 percent without rounding off (for general category candidates) or 50 percent without rounding off (for OBC,SC,ST, physically challenged, visually challenged candidates) can apply. The degree can be obtained either from Kumaun University or any other recognised university from any part of India.

The date for applying for RDET has begun on 24 February and will go on till 20 March. Admit card can be downloaded in the last week of March tentatively. The date for examination is tentatively on 5 April and any information in this regard will be intimated on the official website of Kumaun University at ‘phdEntrance‘ The candidates will be selected based on the performance in the RDET and subsequent personal interview/presentation.

KU releases PhD entrance application – Candidates who have passed UGC/CSIR-JRF or its equivalent test will be considered for admission into PhD without RDET. But they too have to apply just like any other normal candidates online along with the required fees. The application fee to be paid is Rs 2,050 (Examination fee-Rs2,000 and portal charges Rs 50). The fee amount is exluding bank charges, bank charges if any included is likely to increase the amount. The fee can be paid through net banking, credit card or debit card.

The entrance test will be of two hour duration and the questions related to the subject of study of the candidate will be asked in objective type. There will be 100 questions in the test. To be qualified in the written test candidates have to secure 50 percent pass (for general category) and 45 percent (for OBC category) and 40 percent (for SC,ST,Visually challenged, physically challenged category).
