This is about applying for July edition of Kerala State Eligibility Test which is also known as KSET or Kerala SET.

The application submission commenced on 16 March 2024 and the last date to submit KSET 2024 Application is midnight of 15 April 2024. The last date to pay the registration fee is midnight of 17 April 2024.

About the exam

The full name of the exam is known as Kerala State Eligibility Test. It is also known as KSET or Kerala SET. The exam is being conducted by LBS Centre for Science and Technology.

Candidates focused on becoming higher secondary school teachers can take up this exam. This test is conducted once a year and is a state-level exam. It has two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Each paper has to be answered in two hours. The medium of the exam is English and Malayalam. The number of test centers for Kerala SET are located in 14 districts.

Who can submit KSET 2024 Application?

Candidates willing to submit KSET 2024 Application must have passed master’s degree from a recognized educational institution with a pass percentage not less than 50.

Those taking up KSET 2024 Application submission must also have passed BEd from a recognized educational institution. There is no age limit for taking up KSET 2024 Application submission.

1. The URL mentioned above must be typed into the browser and then submitted to allow it to download.

2. Once the webpage is ready, candidates can scroll down the page and click the button State Eligibility Test-July 2024 – Application Registration

3. Clicking the above button open another webpage with URL ‘https://lbsedp.lbscentre.in/setjul24/’

4. Soon after the webpage with above URL opens, candidates can click the link for registration to create an account with username and password.

5. After creating the account, candidates can login and start filling KSET 2024 Application.

Hall ticket will be available for download from the official website which is accessible with the URL ‘https://lbscentre.kerala.gov.in/’

1. The URL mentioned above must be typed into the browser and then submitted to allow the website to download.

2. Once the website is ready, candidates can click the link for downloading the hall ticket.

3. Once the link opens, applicants must enter their application number and other required details and submit them to view the admit card.

Admit card can be downloaded and a printout can be taken and preserved for future use.

Exam pattern

Paper 1 is common for all candidates and has questions related to General Knowledge and Aptitude in teaching.

Paper 2 will have questions related to the subject which the candidate has studied in postgraduation.

Starting with the academic year 2025-26, this initiative seeks to recognize exceptionally talented students who have excelled in highly competitive international Olympiads in subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Informatics, say sources from IIT Kanpur.

Admission through this route will allow a limited number of seats per department specifically for students who have undergone rigorous preparation and training in relevant Olympiad camps.

Eligibility

Eligibility for this pathway requires candidates to be of the same age as JEE (Advanced) candidates and to have taken their Class XII (or equivalent) exams for the first time in either the year of admission or the year prior, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

Candidates must have attended the relevant Olympiad training camp in the subject for which they are applying, say sources from IIT Kanpur.

Those who were previously admitted to IITs via JoSAA or had an IIT admission cancelled are not eligible.

Selection process

The selection process involves two stages. Initially, each department will review applicants based on their Olympiad rankings and shortlist candidates accordingly, say sources from IIT Kanpur.

These candidates will then participate in a written examination, which is mandatory, and an interview, if required.

At the Institute level, a selection committee, led by the Dean of Academic Affairs, will consolidate the recommendations from each department to ensure that the admissions process is streamlined, filling all available seats within each department without overlap.

Timeline

The timeline for this new admission route is set to begin with the call for applications in early March 2025, say sources from IIT Kanpur.

The application window will close by the end of March, and departments will conduct their screenings and exams by May in the respective academic years.

Final offers will be extended in June 2025, giving applicants a streamlined timeline that allows adequate preparation and a clear path to admission.
