JEE Advanced exam on July 3, 75% criteria removed
JEE Advanced exam for this year will take place on 3 July and IIT Kharagpur will conduct it.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said this while making an announcement regarding JEE Advanced exam for this year.
Union Minister was supposed to announce information regarding JEE Advanced exam for 2021 by 6 pm of 7 January, according to Twitter message.

It is to note, last year was no smooth sailing for the academic arena of this country as things did not happen as per the schedule.
State board exams and CBSE exams for 10th and 12th standards inluding competitive exams like JEE Mains and NEET UG did not happen as per the actual schedule.
Added to this academic sessions also began beyond their schedule during 2020.
The delay in start of exams, academic sessions in 2020 compelled parents and students to speculate n possibility of conducting exams and classes in a timely manner in 2021.
It is amidst this situation that the announcement comes from Union Education Minister.
It is interesting to note that even JEE Advanced exam was held much beyond its usual schedule in 2020 owing to COVID-19 situation.
That is not all, there is more to JEE Advanced exam of 2021 than meets the eye.
Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said the eligibility criteria of getting 75 percent pass marks in plus-two exams is relaxed this year too.

Candidates willing to write JEE Advanced exam must fulfill two eligibility conditions.
While first one is he or she has to pass JEE Mains exam and get a rank that is in top 2.5 lakhs.
The second condition the applicant of JEE Advanced exam has to fulfill is he or she has to get 75 percent pass marks in plus-two exam with maths, physics and chemistry as subjects.
Relaxation was provided the previous year with regards to second eligibility criteria owing to COVID-19 situation.
This year too, students will get the relaxation, which means, this year too, candidates have to secure just qualifying marks in plus-two exam to be eligible for JEE Advanced exam and find a seat in IIT.
Students who pass JEE Mains can get an engineering or sciences seat in NITs, IIITs or IISC.
However, candidates who are willing to study in IITs have to pass JEE Mains exam with a score that is in the top 2.5 lakh ranks.
The dates for JEE Advanced exam registration are announced after JEE Mains exams are over. JEE Mains is usually conducted for two times a year.
However, JEE Mains will be held for four times next year – 23 to 26 February, 15 to 18 March, 27 to 30 April and 24 to 28 May.
As the usual trend is to announce the registration for JEE Advanced exam after JEE Mains are over.
The notification regarding JEE Advanced exam 2021 registration commencement will likely be in
second or third week of June as the fourth session of JEE Mains will be over by May.
JEE Advanced exam for 2020 was held on September 27 in computer based mode. The results for JEE Advanced exam was declared on 5 October 2020.
Students who already are willing to commence JEE Advanced exam preparation can go to the official website ‘https://jeeadv.ac.in/pastqp.php’ and access the previous question papers.
They can see JEE Advanced question papers from the previous years, right from 2007 to 2020.
An announcement about commencement of registration for JEE Advanced exam 2021 will be available at the appropriate time.
JEE Advanced exam registration takes place in two categories. While one is for Indian candidates who have qualified JEE Mains, the other is for foreign national candidates.

The JEE Advanced exam 2021 could be the same as it was during the previous year.

Post passing JEE Advanced, candidates have to apply for IIT admission at the website of JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority).
JoSAA will conduct counselling for admissions into IIT.
A seperate test – Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) is conducted for students who wish to join Architecture course instead of B.Tech.
The registration for AAT commences soon after JEE Advanced results are declared.

Students who have score the required marks can take part in the counselling where he can choose the course of his interest and IIT where he or she wants to study.
Candidates who get confirmed seats have to report at the respective IIT either physically or online and pay the fees and join it.
