JEE Advanced 2021 exam: What happens after the great test?
JEE Advanced 2021 exam is over and the focus will now shift towards all the activity that has to take place after the popular test is conducted. All the thing that takes place before the exam is one big thing, what happens after the test is another big affair.
A pass in JEE Advanced 2021 exam simply does not mean all the things are over. A lot of activity takes place after the popular competitive test is conducted.
JEE Advanced 2021 exam result
The first would be the release of JEE Advanced 2021 exam result. Students who wrote the exam on October 3 this year can check the result on October 15.
The result will be available on the official website ‘https://jeeadv.ac.in/impdates.php’ Candidates have to visit the website and click the link for downloading the result.
Post clicking the link, students can enter their roll number, date of birth and phone number and login and view the result of JEE Advanced 2021 exam.
Students can take a printout once the results in connection with JEE Advanced 2021 exam are visible and preserve them for future use. The printout of the result would be of use during the counselling process.
Before result
There is a small process even before the release of the final result of JEE Advanced 2021 exam. The provisional answer keys would be released just before the final results in connection with JEE Advanced 2021 exam are out.
The copies of the response sheets of the candidates in JEE Advanced 2021 exam will be uploaded on the official website of the exam.
The response sheets can be downloaded by clicking the appropriate link and entering the mobile number, roll number of JEE Advanced 2021 exam and date of birth.
The provisional answer keys in connection with JEE Advanced 2021 exam will be released by 10 am from 10 October onwards. Students can access these response sheets on the official website.
Making use of the provisional answer keys and the response sheets, students can analyse their performance in JEE Advanced 2021 exam.
Post registration of responses, the final result will be released on October 15 along with release of final answerkeys. Release of the final result is the commencement of another process that is equally relevant.
Post release
Students now have to ensure they have the required cutoff in the JEE Advanced 2021 exam. Cutoff is the minimum mark that is required to qualify the exam. Candidates must get marks either equal to the cutoff or more than it to get a seat in IITs.
The cutoff is released either before the declaration of final result of JEE Advanced 2021 exam or shortly after the release. Sometimes it could be released along with the final result.

Candidates who have achieved the cutoff mark or above it in the JEE Advanced 2021 exam can move to the next phase that would be conducted by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). The next phase is counselling.
Counselling is the process where students can register themselves on the official website of JoSAA and choose the course they wish to study and the IIT where they desire to study the course of their choice.
Cutoffs
IIT Kharagpur which is the conducting authority of JEE Advanced 2021 exam will release the cutoff marks. These marks will be different for various categories of applicants – General, OBCs, SCs, STs.
Candidates who have attended JEE Advanced 2021 exam have to achieve the individual cutoff in each subject (maths, physics and chemistry) and also in aggregate for all the three subjects.
The JEE Advanced cutoffs are prepared after taking into account points like number of students participating in the exam, difficulty level of the exam, seat availability in IITs, previous year cutoffs, performance of the candidate in JEE Advanced exam.
Architecture
Students who have qualified JEE Advanced 2021 exam with required cutoffs and want a seat in IIT will take part in the counselling conducted by JoSAA. Students willing to study architecture have to apply for Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) soon after release of JEE Advanced 2021 exam.
The results of JEE Advanced 2021 exam will be released on 15 October. Candidates can submit applications from 10 am onwards of 15 October to 5 pm of 16 October on the official website of JEE Advanced exam.
AAT will be conducted on 18 October from 9 am to 12 pm. AAT results will be declared on 22 October. The seat allocation process (counselling) will likely start by 16 October.
Students should ensure that they have attained the required cutoff in JEE Advanced 2021 exam before they take part in the counselling.
After clicking the link of the official website and soon after the webpage downloads, students can click the appropriate link register for taking part in the counselling.
Before registration, the candidates can click the link of ‘Seat Matrix’ on the official website of JoSAA and find out the availability of the seat and course they wish to study in the institute (IIT) of their choice.
Post registration, candidates can login and fill the forms and choose the institute and course they wish to study.
The counselling will be conducted in six rounds usually, those who could not get the course of their choice in the institute they have desired, can make their choices in the subsequent rounds of counselling.
Candidates who have got seats sanctioned in the counselling can report at the centres designated for document verfication and completion of other procedures. Post completion of procedures, students have to pay the fees and join the institution.
