IIT Roorkee is set to host its 24th Convocation on Saturday, 27th July 2024. Ms. Debjani Ghosh, President of NASSCOM will be the Chief Guest.
Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy, Chairman of the Board of Governors, will preside over the event, say sources from IIT Roorkee.
A vocal advocate for the opportunities presented by emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence.
She has led NASSCOM in actively promoting the need to accelerate the responsible development and adoption of AI across various sectors for inclusive growth and development.
In anticipation of the grand event, a press conference was held today at the Senate Hall, James Thomson Building, IIT Roorkee.
The press meet was chaired by Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, with Prof. U.P. Singh, Deputy Director, and Prof. Naveen Kumar Navani, Dean of Academic Affairs, in attendance.
During the press conference, Prof. Pant reiterated his enthusiasm for the Convocation, stating that this Convocation is a celebration of the hard work and dedication of their students, and we are proud to witness their transition into future leaders and innovators.
We are honored to welcome Ms. Debjani Ghosh as our Chief Guest for this momentous occasion. Her exemplary leadership and contributions to the technology sector serve as an inspiration to our graduates, he said.
The graduates include 1,277 undergraduate students, 794 postgraduate students, and 442 PhD students, said Prof Naveen of IIT Roorkee.
He further emphasized the significant achievements of the students and the faculty’s dedication to providing a high-quality education that meets industry standards.
Prof. U.P. Singh, Deputy Director of IIT Roorkee, invited the gathering to attend the Convocation ceremony and thanked the gathering for their presence at the press conference.
Prof. Singh added, “The dedication and hard work of our students, faculty, and staff have been exceptional, and we look forward to celebrating their accomplishments.
Our institute’s achievements in research, innovation, and education are a testament to our commitment to excellence.
The support of the media is invaluable in sharing these successes with a wider audience, said Prof Singh of IIT Roorkee.
During the press conference, Prof. K.K. Pant also launched a promotional video for the Convocation, highlighting the event’s details, the achievements of the institute, the accomplishments of its students, and featuring Ms. Debjani Ghosh, say sources from IIT Roorkee.

The Institute had celebrated its Sesquicentennial in October 1996 and now completed more than 175 years of its existence.
It was converted to IIT on September 21, 2001 by an Ordinance issued by the Government of India declared it as the nation’s seventh Indian Institute of Technology, an “Institution of National Importance”.
