    You must be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates in Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) of JEE Main 2026. The category-wise distribution is:

    • OPEN: 1,01,250 (includes 5,063 for PwD)

    • GEN-EWS: 25,000

    • OBC-NCL: 67,500

    • SC: 37,500

    • ST: 18,750

  • Criterion 2: Age Limit

    Candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 2001.

    • Relaxation: SC, ST, and PwD candidates get a 5-year relaxation (born on or after October 1, 1996)

  • Criterion 3: Number of Attempts

    You can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.

  • Criterion 4: Appearance in Class XII

    You must have appeared for Class 12 (or equivalent) for the first time in either 2025 or 2026.

  • Criterion 5: Earlier Admission at IITs

    You should not have been admitted to an IIT in the past (regardless of whether you continued the program or not).

 Online Application Guide

The registration process is entirely online via jeeadv.ac.in.

Step 1: Login

Use your JEE Main 2026 Application Number and password to log in. Your basic data (name, DOB, etc.) will be automatically fetched from the JEE Main database.

Step 2: Fill Registration Form

  • Provide your choice of examination cities (usually 8 choices).

  • Select the language of the question paper (English or Hindi).

  • Specify your eligibility for various reservation categories.

Step 3: Upload Documents

You will need digital copies (PDF/JPEG) of the following:

  • Class 10 Certificate (for Date of Birth).

  • Class 12 Marksheet (if already passed).

  • Category Certificate (GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST) — Note: GEN-EWS and OBC-NCL certificates must be issued on or after April 1, 2026.

    PwD Certificate (if applicable).

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have:

  • Passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with:
    • Physics
    • Chemistry

  • Appearing in Class 12 in 2026.

IIT Admission Rule

Candidates should NOT have:

  • Previously accepted admission in any IIT.

 Boards Percentage Requirement

While eligibility to sit for the exam is based on JEE Main ranks, admission to IITs requires:

  • Minimum 75% aggregate marks in Class 12 (or equivalent) for General/OBC-NCL.

  • Minimum 65% aggregate marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

  • Alternatively: Being in the Top 20 percentile of your respective board.
