IIT JAM 2025 registration is closing on 11 October 2024 at ‘https://jam2025.iitd.ac.in/. Registration started on 3 September 2024 (Tuesday).
IIT JAM 2025 will be conducted on 2 February 2025 by IIT Delhi. The exam is held for students desiring to seek admission into science courses at postgraduation level in IITs located across India.
Those interested in studying post graduation in science subjects in IITs can take up IIT JAM 2025 registration. Registration is nothing but applying for the exam.

Registration
The link to take up IIT JAM 2025 registration is active on the official website. It was activated as the registration schedule started. The process is mentioned below:
- The process to take up IIT JAM 2024 registration is online and can be done at the official website ‘https://jam2025.iitd.ac.in/’
- The URL mentioned above has to be typed into the browser and submitted to allow the website to download.
- Once the webpage is ready, candidates can click the link to take up registration to create an account with username and password.
- Clicking the link above will open another webpage with URL ‘https://joaps.iitd.ac.in/login’
- When the webpage with another URL opens, candidates can complete the process of registration.
- Post creating an account, candidates can login and start IIT JAM 2025 registration (filling the application form).
- They have to fill the application, pay the registration fees and then submit the form.
How to download admit card?
Those who have completed the process of IIT JAM 2025 registration successfully can only download the admit card. The process for it is mentioned below:
- Type The URL of the official website (https://jam2025.iitd.ac.in/) in the browser and then submit to allow the website to download.
- Once the webpage is ready, click the link for downloading admit card.
- Clicking the link may open another webpage with another URL.
- When webpage with another URL opens, they can type their application number, date of birth and other details and submit them to get the admit card.
Point to remember
The link for taking up IIT JAM 2025 registration and downloading the admit card for the exam are not functional as of now, even while the official website is on.
Links for both may be activated at the appropriate time, candidates can start IIT JAM 2025 registration once the link is active.
About the exam
The full name of the exam is Joint Admission Test for Masters and is popular as JAM. This is conducted once a year and is a national level test for admission into postgraduate courses in IITs across India.
Candidates have to pass this exam with required qualifying marks to be eligible for the admission into IITs.
They can also try for admission in non IIT institutions (NITs, IIEST Shibpur, SLIET and DIAT) with help of this score. They have to approach these institutions separately.
IIT JAM 2025 will be a computer based test and will be conducted in seven test papers – Biotechnology, Chemistry, Economics, Geology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, and Physics.
Candidates can either choose to appear in one paper or two test papers. This exam is conducted by one of IITs located in India by taking turns. IIT JAM 2025 is being conducted by IIT Delhi.

Who can take up IIT JAM 2025 registration?
Individuals who have passed graduation in the relevant discipline from a recognized educational institution can take up IIT JAM 2025 registration.
The graduation must be in the same discipline in which the candidates desire to pursue postgraduation.
Even those who have appeared for the final exams of their qualifying degree and are waiting for results or those who are about to appear for the final exams can also take up IIT JAM 2025 registration.
However, these people have to pass the exam and provide a proof for it by the time the admission process begins. If they do not produce the proof, admission may be cancelled.
Foreign nationals
Even foreign nationals can take up IIT JAM 2025 registration. For admission, foreign nationals are required to satisfy the rules and regulations of the Admitting Institute pertaining to foreign students. For further details, they are advised to contact the concerned Admitting Institute.
Documents
Candidates have to upload, their photograph, image of their signature, Community certificate (if applicable) and PwD certificate (if applicable) while taking up IIT JAM 2025 registration.
The same is Rs 1250 if applying for two test papers for candidates of the above mentioned category.
For all others, IIT JAM 2025 registration fee is Rs 1800 per paper. IIT JAM 2025 registration fee is 2500 if applying for two test papers.

Exam pattern
The questions have to be answered in a duration of three hours. Medium of the exam will be english. There will be a total of 60 questions which are framed in three sections – Section A, Section B and Section C.
Section – A contains a total of 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) involving 10 questions of one mark each and 20 questions of two marks each.
Each MCQ has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer. Candidates can mark their answer by clicking one of the choices.
A wrong answer will result in negative marks. For each wrong answer to 1 mark questions, 1/3 mark will be deducted and similarly for each wrong answer to 2 marks questions, 2/3 mark will be deducted.
Section – B contains a total of 10 Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) carrying two marks each. Each MSQ is similar to MCQ but with the difference that MSQ may have one or more than one correct choice(s) out of the four given choices.
The candidate is awarded full credit only if all the correct answer(s) and no wrong answers are selected. Candidates can mark the answer(s) by clicking the choice(s).
There is no negative marking or partial marking for MSQ. Section – C contains a total of 20 Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions involving 10 questions of one mark each and 10 questions of two marks each.
For NAT questions, the answer is a signed real number, which needs to be entered using the virtual numeric keypad displayed on the monitor.
No choices will be shown for NAT questions. There is no negative marking for NAT. In all sections, questions not attempted will result in zero mark. There is no provision for partial marking.
The candidates are required to select the answer(s) for MCQ and MSQ type questions using the mouse. The answer for NAT questions must be entered using a mouse on a virtual numeric keypad. The keyboard of the computer will be disabled.
Changes, if any, will likely be communicated at the time when the registration process for the exam starts.
The latest information will also be available in the information bulletin connected with the exam. This would be available when the application submission process for the exam is opened.
