JAM 2024 counselling is being undertaken for admissions to nearly 3000 seats across 89 postgraduate degrees across 21 IITs, and it will be administered by IIT Madras for the 2024-25 academic year. The JAM 2024 counselling procedure will be conducted entirely online and divided into four parts. Candidates seeking admission must pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 750. After accepting a seat, candidates must pay an online Seat Booking Fee of INR15,000/- for General/OBC-NCL/EWS and INR 7,500/- for SC/ST/PwD within the specified time frame.

The IIT JAM 2024 results were announced by IIT Madras on March 20, 2024. Along with the JAM 2024 result announcement, exam officials issued the IIT JAM 2024 final answer key, which included the master question paper for seven courses. Candidates could see their results and get IIT JAM 2024 scorecards by checking in with their enrollment ID or email address. The IIT JAM 2024 cut-off for all seven MSc courses was announced on March 22, 2024, along with the JAM 2024 results.

What is IIT JAM?

The Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM) is an all-India level online admission exam administered annually on a rotational basis by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. IIT JAM is held to choose applicants for MSc and other postgraduate courses given at IITs, as well as integrated PhD courses offered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore. IIT JAM 2024 Admission Process

Before submitting the IIT JAM 2024 application form, candidates must check that they meet the eligibility criteria.

  • To be eligible for the IIT JAM 2024, aspirants must have a bachelor’s degree.
  • Candidates who had or will take their graduation examinations in 2024 were also able to apply, as long as they submitted documentation by September 2023.
  • Candidates who passed the IIT JAM 2024 exam were eligible to apply for the admission and counselling process.

IIT Madras released the IIT JAM 2024 solution key on February 19, 2024. Candidates can get the IIT JAM 2024 answer key by entering their login information. In the event of a discrepancy, candidates will be able to submit challenges within the time frame specified by the authority by logging into the IIT JAM 2024 candidate portal.

Candidates were also offered the option of filing objections to the preliminary IIT JAM 2024 answer keys for a charge of INR 500 per question. The format of the IIT JAM 2024 exam was unchanged from the previous year. This three-hour computer-based test is administered in two sessions. There are sixty questions in all, and there are 100 total points. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) are the three categories of questions. VITEEE for B.E/B.Tech programs will have a total of 125 questions constituting 125 marks. The no. of questions is given as Mathematics/Biology-40 questions, Physics-35 questions, Chemistry-35 questions, Aptitude-10 questions and English-5 questions.

Vellore Institute of Technology will conduct VITEEE 2025 exam for 2 hours and 30 minutes duration.

All the questions shall be multiple choice type; each correct answer shall have one mark and there is no negative marking for incorrect ones. 

Candidates who are wishing to take up science oriented courses have to attempt questions related to maths, physics and chemistry.

Those keen on biology or biotechnology oriented engineering courses have to attempt questions from biology, physics and chemistry. English and Aptitude questions are compulsory along with maths/biology, physics and chemistry.

Such candidates will not get any chance to attend the counselling process. Out of the total 125 questions, the sections include mathematics/biology (40), physics (35), chemistry (35), aptitude (10), and English (5).

Post preparation

Candidates have to appear for VITEEE 2025 and then pass it with required qualifying marks to be eligible for the next phase of the admission process.

The phase after written exam is counselling, those who have passed the written exam with required qualifying marks can take part in the counselling where candidates get to choose the college and course they wish to study.

Counselling is usually conducted in more than one round, those who get a seat in the initial rounds can pay the fees and join the classes.
