IIT JAM 2020: Great, revised counselling schedule released
IIT JAM 2020, the schedule for further admission process post conducting of IIT JAM 2020 has been released for undertaking admission into various masters and doctor and dual degree (masters and doctoral) programmes at IITs and IISCs through has been released by IIT Kanpur.
About the exam
IIT JAM 2020 is the exam conducted by IISC or IIT on a rotation basis to select candidates to provide admissions for students in IIT or IISC to study programmes like Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Physics and Medical Physics and so on at post graduate, doctoral and dual degree levels.
IIT JAM 2020 was conducted by IIT Kanpur in the recent past and the results were declared on 16 March. They are available on the official website of IIT Kanpur at ‘http://jam.iitk.ac.in’
Post the schedule of submitting the application form for admission, candidates will be called for counselling. Post counselling, admission list is released. Candidates have to pay seat booking fee post the release of admission lits with regards to IIT JAM 2020.
The application
Candidates who have been successful in IIT JAM 2020 can fill the application form for admission at the official website of IIT Kanpur till 10 May. Form filling was made open on 20 April.
The last date for rectification of last date for rectification of defective documents at IIT Kanpur and receipt of requests for the change of category with proper documents is 15 May. The first admission list is declared on 19 June.
The last date to pay seat booking fee for admission list is 15 June. The second and third admission list are released on 30 June and 15 July. The last date to pay seat booking fee for the second and third admission lists are 6 July and 20 July respectively.
How to apply
Candidates who have qualified IIT JAM 2020 must visit the official portal of JAM situated on the website of IIT Kanpur at ‘http://jam.iitk.ac.in’ After the official page downloads, applicants must click JOAPS link ‘https://joaps.iitk.ac.in/’ and enter their user name and password and look for their scores.
If they qualify with required score they can go ahead with applying for the required course. They can start applying for admission by choosing ‘Application form for Admission.’
Candidates must have their Class 10 certificate, Class 12th mark sheet, mark sheets of the qualifying degree exam. Candidates of general category must have Nationality Certificate.
Birth Certificate or Voter ID or First page of Passport or School Transfer Certificate (TC) showing nationality or Nationality Certificate issued by the authorized government agency or Aadhar Card can also be used.
Applicants must note that Ration Card, Driving License, College/Institute/School ID, Bank Passbook, PAN Card, Mark sheets are not considered as Nationality Certificate.
Category certificate must be there for candidates who belong to OBC-NCL, EWS, SC and ST categories. People with Disabilities (PwD) candidates must have PwD certificate.
Applicants after filling the form for admission must pay the application fee of Rs 600 through online banking, credit card, debit card. The fee is non-refundable.
Applicants must remember that the photograph and image of the signature they have uploaded while applying for IIT JAM 2020 exam will also be used for admission, so the photo and signature image need not be uploaded again.
Seat booking fees
Candidates who have been called for counselling have to pay IIT JAM 2020 counselling fee. The fee for general and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) category candidates is Rs 10,000 and for SC, ST and PH category candidates it is Rs 5,000.
