IIT Guwahati receives great 179 PPOs in 2021-22
IIT Guwahati was the centre of attraction recently when it witnessed significant increase in pre-placement offers (PPOs) for this year. Students from IIT Guwahati got 179 PPOs during the academic year 2021-22 which was the highest in the last three years.
It is interesting to note that most of the offers IIT Guwahati students had received were from IT/Software, Finance, Analyst and Product profiles. As this year the industries are recovering from economic aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a rise in demand leading to an increase in the number of companies participating in campus placement.

The PPOs received by IIT Guwahati students during 2019-20 was 133. The same during 2020-21 stood at 133 and in the present year (2021-22, as of November 25) it increased to 179.
Speaking about the placements in the current academic year of 2021-22, Dr. Abhishek Kumar, Head of Centre for Career Development (CCD) at IIT Guwahati said team at CCD is very excited and geared up for this year placement, which will be in completely virtual model.

As far as companies are concerned, the number of them taking part in the placement have seen an upward move. Over 200 companies were invited during the campus placement in 2019-20, the number of companies that took in the campus placement at IIT Guwahati were 147.
It is also interesting to note that the number of students of IIT Guwahati taking part in the placement has seen a significant rise. The placement season of 2019-20 saw a participation of 561 students at IIT Guwahati.

The same went up to 584 during the placement time of 2020-21. The placement of 2021-22 saw participation of 600 students. The hiring trend has been on the rise specifically for technical roles with more companies giving PPO offers through internships, say sources at IIT Guwahati.
Technical profiles of different organizations have increased as compared to last year. Additionally, data science and quant profiles have seen a large number of openings.
Major companies that are hiring from Day One include Google, Microsoft, Apple, Oracle, Sprinklr, JP Morgan and Chase, Goldman Sachs, Bajaj, Uber, Schlumberger, Graviton, Amazon, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, and Nvidia, among others.
It is also interesting to note that IIT Guwahati had received a few international offers from Japan. This year, it is expected to get higher as compared to last year.
The year wise highest domestic offer received through PPOs are 47 LPA (CTC) in 2019-20, 64 LPA (CTC) in 2020-21 and 64 LPA (CTC) in 2021-22.
