IIT Bombay M.Tech 2020 admissions – IIT Bombay is inviting applications for admission into post graduate engineering (M.Tech) courses for 2020. The prestigious educational institution also released M.Tech and PhD (dual degree).
Courses offered
Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Transportation Systems Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Earth Sciences are among the courses that are offered for M.Tech and M.Tech+PhD and PhD programmes at IIT Bombay.
IIT Bombay M.Tech 2020 admissions Eligibility
MTech
Candidates willing to apply for post graduate engineering programmes must have B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engineering)/M.Sc./M.C.A./MBBS/M.Pharm./B.Pharm. (4 yr. Degree)/BDS (4 yr. Degree)/recognized equivalent to B.E./B.Tech which must be earned.
It must be earned through Associate Membership Examinations conducted by recognized professional bodies like Institution of Engineers (India), Institute of Chemical Engineers, Aeronautical Society of India, Institute of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers, Indian Institute of Metals.
The pass percentage in the qualifying exam must be 60% or a CPi/CGPA of 6.0. The same for candidates of SC,ST and People With Disabilities must be 55% or a CPI/CGPA of 5.5.
PhD
Candidates applying for the doctorate programmes must be a post graduate in an engineering dicipline. Graduate engineers, post graduates in sciences, masters in arts, commerce or allied subjects also can apply for research.
In case if an applicant is a graduate engineer he or she must also have a valid GATE/CEED score. If an applicant is a master degree holder in science the he or she has to be selected through National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) including lecturership (assistant professorship) to apply for PhD in IIT Bombay.
Or, master’s degree holder in science must be selected through a National level examination conducted by MHRD or its agencies / Institutions such as UGC/ IIT/ IISc/IISER/ IIIT etc.
IIT Bombay M.Tech 2020 admissions – Applicants holding master’s degree in arts, commerce or allied subjects must be with a minimum of two years of professional experience that is acquired after obtaining the qualifying degree and completed before the starting of the semester in which admission is sought.

M.Tech+PhD dual degree
Candidates eligible for admission to M.Tech. Progamme are also eligible for M.Tech+ Ph.D. Dual Degree Programme, in certain disciplines.
There is a common application for M.Tech. and M.Tech.+ Ph.D. (Dual Degree) Programme. Candidates after getting admission to M.Tech.
Programme will be considered for M.Tech.+Ph.D. (Dual Degree) Programme if they have opted for it in the application. The official link to obtain prospects and apply for the above mentioned programmes is here
Important dates
The date of application for M.Tech and M.Tech+PhD (dual degree) has begun on 18 March. Application for PhD programmes at IIT Bombay has begun on 23 March and the last date for both have been extended till 22 April.

How to apply
Applicants willing to apply for the above mentioned courses must apply online. They have to click the url ‘http://www.iitb.ac.in/newacadhome/toadmission.jsp’ Once the required page downloads they will see the host of hyperlinks under the title ‘Admissions for the Academic Year 2020’
Candidates willing to apply for ‘M.Tech or M.Tech+PhD (dual degree)’ must click the hyperlink in green colour with the same name to apply. Applicants for PhD programmes can click the hyperlink ‘Ph.D’ under the menu ‘Research Programmes.
Clicking both the links will lead to the portal for application. There candidates can see ‘Admission for M.Tech./M.Tech.+Ph.D. (Dual Degree) Programmes for the Academic year (2020-21)’ Below that host of hyperlinks will be seen, candidates can select ‘Online Application Portal’ link and click it to start applying.
Method of selection
The method of selection will be through a written test or interview. The candidates selected for written test or interview is likely to be displayed by 17 April as per the earlier planned schedule.
However, as the last date to apply for the programmes has been extended to 22 April, written test and interview are likely to be postponed. However candidates can check the official website ‘http://www.iitb.ac.in/newacadhome/toadmission.jsp’ for any updates.
Application fee
Women candidates have to pay an application fee of Rs 150. It is the same for SC,ST and PwD category candidates. For all other categories the application fee stands at Rs 300.
Points to remember
The results will be uploaded/declared on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). Candidates need to login there to see offers and choose one of the option given.
The Written Test and/or Interview for M.Tech.+Ph.D. (Dual Degree) Programme will be communicated by
Academic Office separately on IIT website: http://www.iitb.ac.in/newacadhome/mtech.jsp.
The result of written test and or interview for RA/RAP/ SW/IS/PS/IIT B.Tech. category will be declared on IIT website whose link is mentioned earlier.
