IIM Calcutta placement sees great performance
IIM Calcutta placement witnessed a splendid performance.
The institute continued its legacy of 100 percent placements for its class of 2022 on 28 November.
There is more to it, this is the first time that IIM Calcutta placement process took place online on such a large scale.
IIM Calcutta placement structure was revamped to comprise three clusters that were scheduled on 23,26 and 28 November.

Also, IIM Calcutta placement this time witnessed a participation of over 139 firms, 43 of them were the first time recruiters.
On the other hand, over 473 students took part in the IIM Calcutta placement this time.
The hiring trends during this IIM Calcutta placement process was well spread across various sectors.
About 40 percent of offers during this IIM Calcutta placement process came from consulting, finance and BFSI sectors.
About 32% of students would do their internships in General Management and Sales and Marketing roles, and the remaining 28% of students found their fit with Operations, Product Management, E-Commerce and startups.
The efforts to ensure that IIM Calcutta placement process becomes more student-centric continued.
The clustering during this IIM Calcutta placement process was based on the core business competencies of the firm and the cohorts were ranked by preference of students.
The first cluster during IIM Calcutta placement this time comprised five cohorts which had top companies from private equity, investments, venture capital firms, management consulting and offers at international locations.
The second cluster which took place on 26 November in this current IIM Calcutta placement process saw a participation of 60 firms offering 80 roles in conglomerates, FMCG, consumer services, software services, e-commerce and consumer durable cohorts.
About 171 students got offers in the second cluster in this IIM Calcutta placement process and top recruiter was Microsoft which made 11 offers.
The third cluster of IIM Calcutta placement took place on 28 November with a participation of 44 companies from advertising, BFSI, consulting services, power and utilities, manufacturing, hospitality services, food aggregators and startup firms.
This cluster witnessed 122 students receiving job offers.
Startups were also encouraged to take part in this placement process and provide exciting internship projects to its students to uphold its tradition of promoting problem-solving and innovation at the ground level that positively impacts people’s lives.
Sonap Garg, a second year student at IIM Calcutta said startups present excellent opportunities for MBA students to test and hone their skills while helping the organization to grow.
The atmosphere is exciting and full of learning. They are fertile grounds to try out new ideas and apply the management concepts we learn in the classroom, said Sonap.
‘These opportunities are stepping stones for many of us who want to be self-reliant and create new jobs in the country.’
Chairperson of CDPO Professor Abhishek Goel said the pandemic and economic recession posed unforeseen challenges.
‘It is heartening to see their students and the placement team rising to the occasion to change the systems, enabling all stakeholders to participate virtually, creating multi-layered coordination and communication channels, and maintaining positivity throughout the process.
