GATE 2022 exam to have two great new subjects
GATE 2022 exam will have two new subjects – Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Geomatics Engineering.
The well-known competitive entrance exam for nest year will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur.
It is interesting to note that IIT Bombay took charge of conducting the well-known exam last year.
IIT Bombay handed over the charge of conducting GATE 2022 exam to IIT Kharagpur at a meeting held recently.
This only means onething, candidates who would be applying for GATE 2022 exam will have two more papers to choose from.
The subjects they get to choose are Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and Geomatics Engineering.
The decision to include Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering as one of the subjects was taken taking into account the demand from shipping industry.
Geomatics engineering is about collection, measuring, monitoring and archiving geospatial data.
Previous year remained special for GATE as the door was opened for students from arts and commerce streams.
The number of students who applied for the newly introduced humanities and environmental science saw a participation of more than 10,000 applicants.
GATE 2022 exam will see addition of two more subjects. Hope is that these two subjects would also find good number of takers.
There is more to GATE 2022 exam than meets the eye. The number of centres for taking the exam are likely to be increased from next year.
Good number of candidates who took the exam last year were from smaller towns.
Keeping that in view, sources point that the scope for opening more centres for taking exam during next year will be looked into.

About the exam
GATE 2022 exam is expanded into Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2022 exam.
This is a national level test conducted for candidates who are aspiring to study post graduate in ME, MTech, MS and PhD in IITs and IISC.
GATE 2022 exam will have 29 papers. GATE exam saw a participation of students in good numbers last year. Over 1.2 lakh students have qualified for the exam.
It is expected that registration for GATE 2022 exam will also be more than satisfactory.
Getting a good score in GATE will not only get students admission in post graduate copurses but also make them eligible for applying for jobs in public sector undertakings.

Eligibility
Applicants must have passed their bachelors in engineering or masters in science subject from a recognised university can apply for GATE 2022 exam.
Candidates must also be an Indian citizen and there is no minimum percentage required at the undergraduate level for appearing in GATE 2022 exam.
The registration fee
Applicants of General/OBC categories have to pay a fee of Rs 1,500 and fees during extended period is Rs 2,000 and the same for SC/ST/PwD category candidates are Rs 750 and Rs 1,250.
The fee for women applicants is Rs 750 and the same during extended period is Rs 1,250.
International students from Dubai and Singapore have to pay US $100 and fees during extended period is US $120.
Students from Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka and Kathmandu can pay US $50 and the fees during the extended period is US $70.

Exam pattern
GATE 2022 exam is a computer based test comprising multiple choice questions.
Candidates have to answer the 65 questions for 100 marks in theree sections – General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics and Core Engineering Area (subject).

Applicants who choose ES (Environmental Science and Engineering) and XH (Humanities and Social Sciences) will have a different exam pattern.
