GATE 2022 exam will be held in 5,6,12 and 13 February for admission into postgraduate engineering courses.
IIT Kharagpur has taken the responsibility of conducting GATE 2022 exam and has made the announcement of the dates for it next year.

That is not all. Two new subjects have been introduced.
Candidates applying for GATE 2022 exam will get to choose new subjects – Geomatics Engineering (NM) and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NM).
Post addition of new subjects, the number of papers with regards to GATE 2022 exam have gone to 29.
The addition of two new subjects will be of benefit to the graduates from the above mentioned subjects.
About the exam
GATE 2022 exam is expanded as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2022 exam.
Individuals who pass this exam get admission into postgraduate programmes offered by eminent institutions like IITs, IISC.
A few public sector undertakings also use the score for recruiting people into certain posts in them.
Individuals who are studying in the 3rd year or final year exam can also apply for the exam.
Point to remember
However, the candidates who possess certification from any of the professional societies must ensure that those examinations conducted by the societies are approved by Ministry of Education/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./ B.Planning, etc.
Candidates who have obtained/are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India: Must be currently in the 3rd or higher years or completed their Bachelor’s degree (duration: at least 3 years) in Engineering/Technology/Science/Arts/Commerce.
Important dates
The application submission for GATE 2022 exam will begin from 30 August. The last date to register for the exam will be 24 September.
The last date to submit application for GATE 2022 exam will be 1 October with payment of late fee.
Applications where rectifications have to be taken up will be displayed on 26 October.
The last date to undertake corrections in the application form will be 1 November this year.
The final date to change paper, category and exam city (with additional fee) is 12 November.

Soon after the webpage downloads on clicking the url of the official website, candidates have to choose the appropriate link for registration and start registering to obtain username and password.
Post obtaining username and password, candidates have to login and start applying for GATE 2022 exam.
Individuals have to fill the application form with the required information, upload the needed documents, pay the registration fee and submit the application form.
Registration fee
Regular period (30 Aug 2021 to 24 Sept 2021)
The registration fee for GATE 2022 exam for female candidates is Rs 750 per paper.
The same for candidates from SC/ST/PwD category candidates per paper is Rs 750.
For all other candidates it is Rs 1500 per paper.
The same for candidates from SC/ST/PwD category candidates per paper is Rs 1250.
For all other candidates it is Rs 2000 per paper.
Documents
The documents to be uploaded while filling the application form for GATE 2022 exam are:
# High quality image of candidate’s photograph
# Good quality image of candidate’s signature
# Scanned copy of Category (SC/ST) certificate (if applicable) in pdf format
# Scanned copy of PwD Certificate (if applicable) in pdf format
# Scanned copy of any one of the valid photo Identity Document: Aadhaar-UID (preferable), Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID and Driving License.
The same ID, in original, MUST be carried to the examination hall.
Foreign nationals or NRIs can apply for GATE 2022 exam and appear in any exam centres in India.
The application fee for foreign/NRI persons if Rs 1500 per paper during the regular period (30 Aug 2021 to 24 Sept 2021) and Rs 2000 per paper during the extended period (25 Sept to 1st Oct 2021).
Exam pattern
GATE 2022 exam is of three hour duration and is held as a Computer Based Test (CBT).
The total number of subjects are 29. GATE 2022 exam is for 100 marks, 15 marks are for General Aptitude and 85 marks are for questions related to the subject chosen by the candidates.
The format of questions are (a) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), (b) Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and/or Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions.
A few questions carry one mark for every correct answer, couple of other questions have two marks for correct answer.
Negative marking is also there. For one mark question that gets a wrong answer 1/3rd mark will be deducted.
For a two mark question that gets a wrong answer, 2/3rd marks will be reduced. There will be no negative marking for MSQ and NAT questions.
