About the exam
CSIR NET 2021 is also known as Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test 2021.
The exam is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of CSIR.
Individuals who pass this exam can get selected as assistant professors in colleges located across the country or get junior research fellowship (JRF) to take up research work in science subjects.
The exam is also known as CSIR UGC NET exam.
The subjects
Individuals who pass CSIR NET 2021 can become assistant professors or junior research fellowship (JRF) in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences.
CSIR NET vs UGC NET
There is another well-known exam UGC NET which too si quite similar to CSIR NET.
However there is a lot of difference between these two popular exams.
UGC NET allows candidates who pass it to become assistant professor or junior research scholar in arts and humanities and languages subjects.
On the other hand individuals who pass CSIR NET can become assistant professor or junior research scholar in science subjects.
Eligibility
Candidates who wish to apply for CSIR NET 2021 must have passed post graduate exam in science subjects from any recognised university.
Also, candidates who passed BS-MS or BS (4 years) or BE/BTech or BPharma or MBBS can also apply for CSIR NET 2021 exam.
Individuals who passed BSc (Hons) or are enrolled in MS-PhD integrated programmes can also apply.
The pass percentage in the qualifying exam must be 55 percent is the CSIR NET 2021 applicants are from General category.
The same is 50 percent if the candidates for CSIR NET 2021 are from SC/ST/PwD categories.
For applicants of CSIR NET 2021 who are from SC/ST/PwD/Female categories, there is an age relaxation of five years.
Applicants of CSIR NET 2021 from OBC (non creamy layer) categories have an age relaxation of five years.
There is no upper age limit for applying for assistant professorship through CSIR NET 2021.

Individuals can click the link to apply and commence registration to obtain username and password.
After obtaining username and password, applicants can login using them and start applying for CSIR NET 2021 exam.
They have to fill details like name, age, date of birth and complete the registration and pay the registration fee, upload photograph, scanned image of signature and submit the application finally.
The final copy of submitted application can be viewed and print out can be taken and preserved for future use.
The same for OBC (non creamy layer) is Rs 500. SC/ST/PwD (People with Disabilities) have to pay Rs 250.

Exam pattern
CSIR NET 2021 will be conducted in online mode, will be a computer based test.
The total duration to answer 200 questions is three hours or 180 minutes.
