Chandigarh University bags great MAKA trophy for 2024
Chandigarh University has turned cynosure of all eyes when it won the prestigious MAKA Trophy at a grand ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan recently.
The trophy also known as Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy was received by Senior Managing Director of Chandigarh University Deep Inder Singh Sandhu and CU’s Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Devinder Singh.
It is interesting to note that the institution has marked an impressive performance in the Khelo India University Games by securing 71 medals which comprised 32 gold medals, 18 silver medals and 21 bronze medals.
First time
Chandigarh University is the first private university to receive MAKA Trophy since its inception. The prestigious award has its inception in 1956-57.
International
It is even more interesting to note that sports persons from Chandigarh University won 10 medals when they represented this country during 19th Asian Games.

Chandigarh University is known for encouraging sports, winning this award is another feather in its cap. This has only strengthened the position of the institution in the world of sports.
