CBSE Exams 2020: Conducting examinations? A difficult task?
CBSE Exams have been postponed in the past owing to outbreak of corona virus. The question now in front of all is will it be easy to conduct these examinations?
Under normal circumstances this would have been just like any other common affair. But this time the COVID-19 situation seems to have posed enough number of challenges.
‘I still remember 2018 when I took my son for the CBSE Exam. All I was thinking was how would he have studied? Will he pass his exam with good score or not?’
He much like other parents dropped his son at the exam centre and came back home. His son returned home after the exam. This will not be case for students who will be writing their CBSE Exams this year.
Challenges this time are many, thanks to corona virus outbreak. ‘We have to ensure that students are writing their exam with out compromising on social distancing norms,’ says S. Ganesh Anantharaman, whose son has to write his 12th class exam this time.
This is to ensure the virus does not spread, he reminds. Central Board of Secondary Education on the other hand is heard to be already focusing on preparations for conducting CBSE Exams.
Also, students and supervisors who come to the exam centres for conducting CBSE Exams will be wearing masks and will also carry hand sanitizers. All this will ensure safety.
The CBSE Exams have become a talk of the town ever since they have been postponed. The first reason behind the postponement was protests due to Citizenship Amendment Act.
Though CBSE Exams began after the situation turned normal, outbreak of corona virus brought the things to a stand still and exams were postponed.
Ever since then, parents and students began worrying about CBSE Exam. Their worries appeared genuine as a pass in these exams is vital for moving to higher levels of education.
Meanwhile, doubts continue to persist in the minds of students and parents. It is great the dates for exams have been announced for CBSE Exams, but what about those who are in containment zones? Asks K. Manish Kumar, a businessman.
Echoing the same point is Dilip Kumar, also a lecturer. How will they be able to come out and write the exam? He asks. There are no answers as of now hopefully as the time moves ahead one may get answers to these questions.
It is estimated that over four lakh candidates may sit for the pending CBSE Exams and there is still some time for the exam dates to arrive. Hope CBSE will put in some solution by that time.
CBSE evaluation
Even as attempts to conduct pending CBSE Exams are taking place, the organisation has said in a notification issued on its official website that the evaluation work on answer sheets of already conducted CBSE Exams for classes 10 and 12 would begin from 12 May.
Over 15 lakh students are said to have appeared for CBSE Exams of class 10 and over 10 lakh students are said to have appeared for CBSE Exams of class 12. Commencement of evaluation will be a good news for students who have already appeared for their exams.
Meanwhile, a special permission is said to have been granted for over 3000 CBSE affiliated schools selected as evaluation centers to begin operating.
The schools will be operating with regards to the limited purpose of work related to evaluation of answer sheets and transportation of answer sheets to the residence of evaluators except in the area falling in the containment zone.
The permission is said to have been granted by Ministry of Home Affairs (Government of India) under video Office Memorandum 40-6/2020-DM-(A) dated 9 May 2020.
And, it has been directed that evaluation centres and regional offices of CBSE shall ensure observation of National Directives of COVID-19 Management.
