BTech Industrial Chemistry: Great new course at IITH

BTech Industrial Chemistry is the new course introduced at IIT Hyderabad. Department of Chemistry at the institution which is also popular as IITH will be offering the program.

Chemical industries have been witnessing fast growth and there is always a need for suitable human resources to support that growth. There is a need for engineers with good knowledge about industrial chemistry.

The academic program BTech Industrial Chemistry has been designed with an idea of generating graduates with good know how of applied chemistry and technology to work in industries from pharma, petrochemicals, polymer sectors.

The course will be of four-year duration and will have eight semesters. Some of the lessons that would be taught as a part or BTech Industrial Chemistry course are Introduction to Systematic Inorganic Chemistry & Applications, Industrial Organic Chemistry, Basic Industrial Techniques and others.

Fabrication Lab, Food Technology, Spectroscopy and Applications, Heat and Mass Transfer, Material Science-I, Electrochemical Energy Conversion, Petroleum and Petrochemicals are also among the lessons that would be taught as a part of BTech Industrial Chemistry course.

Eligibility and selection procedure

The candidates who wish to join BTech Industrial Chemistry should have passed plus-two in science stream from a recognized educational institution located anywhere in the country. The subjects in the plus-two must be maths/biology, physics and chemistry.

Candidates have to first pass JEE Mains with a rank that comes under top 2.5 lakhs on a national level to be eligible for JEE Advanced. JEE Advanced exam has to be passed with required qualifying marks to be eligible to take part in the counseling process.

JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) conducts the counseling process and students who have passed JEE Advanced with required qualifying marks can choose BTech Industrial Chemistry in the counseling. Students who get the seat can convey their acceptance and pay the fees.
