The list of the below IITs is as per the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) ranking that the Ministry of Human Resource Development, MHRD has announced. So, let us read in detail about the top five IITs of India.

2. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi
The second NIRF ranking goes to IIT Delhi. The College of Engineering and Technology was established in 1961 that changed to IIT Delhi in 1963. It is one of the topmost engineering colleges in the country that has a beautiful campus surrounded by Lotus Temple on one side and Qutub Minar on the another. There are six streams and 100-course options for the students to select from in this college. An interesting feature of this college is its hostel names which are based on the mountain names.
3. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay
In our list of top five IITs of India, IIT Bombay ranks third with the third NIRF ranking. IIT Bombay was established in 1958 which makes it the second oldest IIT in the country and one of the oldest engineering colleges in India. They have comprehensive graduate programs providing doctoral degrees in a variety of streams including Mathematics, Science, Engineering, and Technology.
IIT Bombay has three schools of excellence, 13 multi-disciplinary centres, and 17 academic departments. They are famous for hosting the largest college fests.
4. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur
IIT Kanpur has a NIRF ranking of 4th in the country which makes it one of the top five IITs of India. The Government of India established this college in 1959. The govt of India launched this institute as a part of the Kanpur Indo-American Programme.
The institute is a public research institute that has conducted a variety of public and social utility projects. It was IIT Kanpur that conducted the JEE Advanced 2018 exams. An interesting fact of this college is that they are so much involved in their student’s development that they add 4500 plus journals every year to their collection.
The institute is famous for being the home to the largest library and having 19 academic departments, five central research units, 13 schools of excellence, and eight multi-disciplinary centres. IIT Kharagpur is quite famous amongst engineering students for a long time now.
