SRMIST: Gets No 2 in great ARIIA ratings released recently
SRMIST, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) at Kattankulathur near Chennai has registered an impressive performance by securing second position in the recently released ARIIA ratings for 2020.
SRMIST secured second position in ‘private or self-financed universities category’ in the ARIIA ratings that were unveiled by Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu.
SRMIST managed to secure the podium finish this year too. ARIIA is an initiative of the Ministry of HRD and is implemented by AICTE and Ministry’s Innovation Cell.
This nothing but systematically ranking higher education institutions and universities in India on indicators related to innovation, startup and entrepreneurship development amongst students and faculty.
The major parameters on which ARIIA is based are programs and activities on IPR, innovation, start-up and entrepreneurship, pre-incubation and incubation infrastructure and facilities to support IandE.
The other parametres are annual budget spent on promoting and supporting IandE activities, courses on innovation, IPR and entrepreneurship development, intellectual property(IP).
Also other parametres are technology transfer and commercialization, successful innovation and start-ups and funding innovation and start-ups.
SRMIST is a known name when it comes to imparting quality higher education. The institution also has A++ the highest grade provided by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
That is not all, Ministry of Education of Government of India has placed SRMIST under the category ‘I’ and also under section 12 (b) which entitles government funding for research.
It is also interesting to note that that SRMIST is also placed on the top league among QS ranked institutions in India. QS has awarded a five-star rating in teaching, employability and inclusiveness with an overall rating of 4-star.
SRMIST is a QS I-GAUGE Diamond rated institution. Further, at the Kattankulathur campus, five engineering programs have been accredited by ABET, USA (www.abet.org) and another four engineering programs by
IET, UK.
It has more than 1000 international students from 64 countries studying in various programs.
SRMIST is one of the top-ranking universities in India with over 52,000 students and more than 3200 faculty across all the campuses.

I-Day celebrations
The SRM University at Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh celebrated Indepence Day in a grand manner.
Professor V.S. Rao, Vice-Chancellor of SRM University AP hoisted the national flag. He said non-violence way of freedom struggle set an example for the entire world to imbibe.

He also lauded the efforts of the freedom fighters. It was only after a great deal of sacrifice and struggle by our freedom fighters that nation became independent.
Dr. D. Gunasekaran, Registrar, Wing Commander Venkataachalam Sekkappan, Director-CLM, Ms. Revathi Balakrishnan, Assistant Director-Student Affairs and others participated in the celebration.
During the lockdown, the two students distributed free essentials such as rice and condiments to the poor.
They were honored with shawls and were presented the ‘Care Humanity’ award along with mementos.
Further, cultural events were organized where students participated in dance and song performances through online platform.
