Initial Results and Supreme Court Intervention

The preliminary results of the Supreme Court were announced on June 4, with as many as 67 candidates scoring 720. However, the difference was due to extra marks awarded for time lost during the test due to invigilator errors and free marks awarded for controversial physics questions.

The Supreme Court intervened and ruled that only one answer to a controversial question was acceptable, requiring a review of the results. In response to these questions, NTA re-administered the exam on 23 June for 1,563 candidates who missed the first exam on 5 May. This re-examination aims to guarantee the fairness and integrity of the exams.

Grace Marks and Rank Changes: The revised results had a significant impact on the list of all candidates, especially the 44 candidates who received freebies for controversial questions. The latest revision ensures a more efficient and effective evaluation process.

Top Performers: In the revised results, 17 candidates secured the first position with 720 points. This elite group includes Mridul Manya Anand from Delhi, Ayush Naugraiya from Uttar Pradesh and Mazin Mansoor from Bihar.

Impact on Qualified Candidates

Revised results show an increase in the number of qualified candidates from 1,316,268 There was a slight decrease to 1,315,853. More than 24 lakh candidates appeared for the NEET UG 2024 exam held on May 5, across 4,750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 cities outside India.

Counselling and Next Steps

With the updated results, the focus is now on RUG’s medical counselling programme. The Medical Consultative Committee (MCC) and state advisory bodies will soon announce an online counselling programme. Students should be aware of the official websites of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Medical Education Authority of the respective states.

NTA recommends all qualified candidates meet the requirements of the relevant authorities including the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and State Medical Education Board for admission to MBBS/BDS courses.

About the exam

The full name of the exam is Xavier Aptitude Test which is popularly known to all as XAT. It is conducted every year by XLRI of Jamshedpur.

Registration fee

Candidates have to pay XAT 2025 registration fee of Rs 2200 while applying for the exam. Those applying for XLRI programmes, have to pay Rs 200 per programme.

Exam pattern

XAT 2025 will be conducted online as a computer based test where the questions have to be answered on a computer screen at the test centre.
