Jharkhand Govt’s CM Schools of Excellence: Aiming for Quality Education and Modern Facilities for All
The govt launched the CM Schools of Excellence to ensure quality education for each child in the state of Jharkhand. Today, 80 schools of excellence are operating in the state of Jharkhand.
Anjali Singh is a student of a government school in Ranchi but speaks fluent English like children studying at the top private schools in the capital city. She also appreciates the facility of the modern science laboratories, libraries and digital tools for learning, in her school that is at par with any private institution in the state.
Like Anjali, thousands of students mostly coming from poor backgrounds, who are unable to afford the hefty burden of tuition fees at private schools, are enjoying similar benefits at CM Schools of Excellence, launched by the Jharkhand government to empower every child in the state with quality education.
CM Schools of Excellence
Singh, a student of CM Schools of Excellence, Bariatu said, “I like this school because it has several modern facilities like smart boards in class, many games to play, physics, bio and chemistry labs that are very helpful for us.” The project has already reached 80 Schools of Excellence operating in the state. The project was launched on May 2 last year where education is imparted to children on methods of English medium schools.
“The children from government schools could not compete with students of private schools. But our government is making government schools better than private schools now,” Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said at a program in Dhanbad on September 30. The CM announced that the number of such model schools in Jharkhand would increase to 5,000 from 80 currently so that poor children could compete with students of private schools.
The institution has a lively culture due to various extracurricular facilities from sports to cultural activities that inspire creativity and cultivate a spirit of teamwork among the students. Siddhi Vinayak, another student of CM Schools of Excellence, Bariatu said, “Our teachers teach us very nicely by showing videos; we also have gaming periods and a library and several other facilities.”
The Principal of the school Deepak Kumar said, “The concept of this school is for those children who cannot afford going to private schools. This school has well-built infrastructure and facilities like labs, library and games are provided here.”
The government of Jharkhand wants to train the children of Schools of Excellence in 11 different trades, such as agriculture, IT, ITES, apparel and make-up, home furnishing, media, and entertainment, automobile, tourism, hospitality, beauty and wellness, multi-skilling, electronics and hardware, retail and healthcare, among others, to make them future-fit.
The Jharkhand government established CM Schools of Excellence to meet the quality education of the children in the state. Equipped with modern facilities such as labs, libraries, and digital tools, 80 schools are now operational, equipping underprivileged children to compete with private schools.
