According to UGC Chairman Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, the new framework is a step toward realizing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s vision. The guidelines emphasize equipping students with industry-relevant skills, enabling them to meet evolving job market requirements. According to Prof. Kumar, These actions are intended to help students achieve their academic objectives while developing the skills that the contemporary workforce requires.

Skill-Oriented Educational Approach

India’s growing demographic dividend presents immense potential for global influence and economic growth. However, to unlock this potential, higher education needs to adapt to the requirements of emerging industries. The integration of skill-based courses into traditional curricula introduces opportunities in areas like:

• Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• Data Analytics
• Digital Marketing
• Logistics and Supply Chain
• Sustainable Agriculture
• Conflict Resolution and Mediation

By offering programs in such specialized fields, students gain opportunities to secure jobs in the global knowledge economy or venture into self-employment.

• Theory: 1 credit = 15 hours
• Practical: 1 credit = 30 hours
• Experiential Learning: 1 credit = 40–45 hours

Similarly, the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) allocates 1 credit for 30 hours of learning without differentiating between theoretical and practical training.

Furthermore, students may receive up to 50% of their total credits from skill-based or micro-credential courses under the National Credit Framework (NCrF). For Skill Universities, this cap can reach 60%, with an option to extend it to 70% in exceptional cases, subject to UGC approval.

Industry Collaboration and Internship Opportunities

HEIs will collaborate with industry associations like FICCI, ASSOCHAM, and PHDCCI to design curricula, facilitate internships, and offer project-based skill training. These partnerships aim to enhance employability and strengthen industry-academia ties.

Internships that contribute to skill development and meet specific learning outcomes will count toward a degree program, provided they are conducted under joint assessment by HEIs and industry stakeholders. Moreover, skill-oriented project work will also be evaluated collaboratively to ensure comprehensive learning outcomes.

Micro-Credentials for Specialized Learning

Micro-credentials, designed for targeted skill acquisition or upskilling, will be integral to this new educational approach. HEIs offering these programs must obtain UGC approval to ensure they align with academic and industry standards. Enterprises and multinational companies can also seek UGC approval to provide skill-based courses within HEIs.

Candidates can undertake registration for the May edition of the CSEET Exam. The process of registration began on 19 December 2024. Exam will be conducted on 3 May 2025.

Exam is also known as The Institute of Company Secretaries of India Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test (ICSI CSEET) and is for those who wish to seek admission into Company Secretaryship Course.

Who can submit ICSI CSEET May 2025 application?

Individuals willing to submit ICSI CSEET May 2025 application have to pass plus-two from a recognized educational institution located anywhere in India.

Point to remember

However, those who have passed Foundation of ICSI or Final of ICAI or Final or Final of ICMAI are exempted from appearing for CSEET.

Even graduates or postgraduates with a minimum of 50% pass marks are exempted from CSEET exam.

4. Once the above webpage opens, they can scroll down and choose the button

Candidates have to keep with them the following documents while filling ICSI CSEET May 2025 application:

Accordingly, the Candidates appearing in CSEET have to pay revised fee with effect from 16th December 2023 onwards.

After application

Candidates who have successfully completed their ICSI CSEET May 2025 Application submission process can alone download the admit card for the exam.

Admit cards for the exam will be available on the official website at the appropriate time. The process to download it is mentioned below for the sake of the applicants:

1. The official website’s URL ‘https://icsi.edu/home/’ has to be typed into the browser and submitted to allow the website to download.
2. Once the website is available, candidates can click the link for downloading the admit card. The link will be made active at the appropriate time,
3. Clicking the link will likely open another webpage, as the page opens, candidates can login using the credentials created while registering for the exam.
4. After the hall ticket is visible, it can be downloaded and a printout of it can be taken.

The exam has to be passed with required qualifying marks to be eligible for the next phase of admission which may involve counselling, interview, document verification.
