JEE Mains February exam is over and it recorded a splendid 95 percent attendance.

It is no less than a victory, say veteran educationists. JEE Mains February exam was held from 23 to 26 of this month and it was the first phase.

An announcement recently by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said JEE Mains will be held for four times in a year starting from 2021.

The first phase of the exam, also known as JEE Mains February exam was conducted in 13 languages – Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, English and Gujarati.

National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted JEE Mains February exam at 828 centres across 311 cities in India and about 10 centres abroad, say sources.

Union Education Minister in a twitter message said ‘it was happy to note that JEE Mains-February exam saw an attendance of 95 percent. I hope NTA will conduct the exam successfully in future also.’

It was a mark of success as sources point towards 95 percent attendance in JEE Mains February exam, despite the hard and testing times, say experts from the education sector.

The special point is that JEE Mains February exam was successfully conducted even in centres abroad – Bahrain, Colombo, Doha, Dubai, Khatmandu, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore and Kuwait, say sources.

T.R. Radhakrishnan, a teacher at a CBSE school says like in the previous year, students who attended JEE Mains February exam and feel the need to perform better can attend JEE Mains in March, April and May.

Previously, students felt they had only one chance to improve as the exam was conducted only in April after January.

Give a chance to improve a miss in April, one had to wait till next year, said Girija Vaidyanathan, a maths teacher.

However, that will not be the situation in 2021 as the exam is being conducted four times. The first one was JEE Mains February exam, she said.

The eyes will turn big no doubt when it comes to result declaration. Sources say, results for JEE Mains February exam will be tentatively declared by 7 March this year.

A score of 295 in JEE Mains February exam means a percentile of 99.99989145.

Scoring in between 271 to 280 means a percentile from 99.9946812032638 to 99.997394875068.

Last year, a candidate had to score atleast 151 marks to be in 99 percentile, this year experts feel, 99 percentile could be obtained if candidate scores 145 marks.

Students who have attended JEE Mains February exam have felt the questions in the exam were moderately difficult.

Good number of them felt Physics was the toughest. Not all were in tandem with that.

K. Ramanujam, a maths teacher felt it all depends on how one prepared for JEE Mains February exam.

While many students who appeared for JEE Mains February exam said maths had questions from calculus, algebra, certain others felt more weightage went to chapters like vectors, matrices, probability.

Post, JEE Mains February exam, applicants must remember that next session will be in March where the exam will happen from 15 to 18.

JEE Mains in April will take place from 27 to 30 April. The session in May will be conducted on 24,25,26,27 and 28.

Individuals have taken it to the notice of NTA that JEE Mains in May is likely to clash with state board and CBSE exams for 10th and 12th classes.

Taking this into consideration, NTA has decided to allow students to submit applications for JEE Main 2021 from 3 May to 12 May for the May session of the exam.

Candidates appearing for the Class 12 Board examination as well as JEE (Main) will be required to provide information under “Whether appearing for Board Examination on any of the dates 24,25,26, 27 and 28 May 2021 and select the ‘Date of their Class 12 Board Examination’ in their online application form so that there is no clash of their schedule of JEE (Main) with Class 12 board examination.
