IIT Mandi has extended its support to set up a real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) laboratory for diagnosing Coronavirus at SLBSGMCH under this MoU.

This is to set up the real-time PCR reactor and data analysis, which is one of the crucial steps for diagnosis, after Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) isolation. This sophisticated instrument will be solely used for COVID-19 diagnosis and will help in ramping up the testing process by analysing 100 samples if run for 24 hours continuously.

SLBSGMCH will start analysing the COVID-19 samples after getting approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Apart from this, IIT Mandi will be conducting a training session for SLBSGMCH on the real-time PCR setup and data analysis.

All the activities in the PCR lab for COVID-19 diagnosis will take place with mutual consent and each organisation will nominate one coordinator to oversee the functioning of diagnostic facilities.

It is to be recollected that IIT Mandi has suspended all classes and extra curricular activities for its students until further notice. IIT Mandi has done this staying in line with advisories from the Ministry of Human Resource and Development.

Professor Timothy A. Gonsalves, Director, IIT Mandi, said IIT Mandi is taking all safety measures to protect its students, faculty, staff and their families.

The Institute has arranged online classes for the students, in order to minimise the impact of the disruption on their learning, until classes resume on campus. Faculty are extensively using the Moodle course management system to share study material, notes, audio files and so on.

Students of IIT Mandi are accessing the study material on their computers or smartphones. Depending on the nature of the course and the Internet access of the students, some faculty are supplementing online data sharing with assorted social media and online platforms.

In this time of crisis, the IIT Mandi community has come together to handle it as a team. Faculty, staff and students are contributing and cooperating remarkably, he said.

Moodle (an open source application) is a content management system that supports quizzes, assignments, polls, and other activities.

The download feature of the Moodle application is especially useful for offline study for the students with intermittent network access. Faculty are available online during interactive sessions for students to clear their doubts.

Dr. Manoj Thakur, Dean Students, IIT Mandi said IIT Mandi is providing all the basic facilities to the students who are residing at the campus, with the help of staff members present at the campus.

Advisories regarding maintaining social distance and keeping hygiene are being circulated to the students on a regular basis, he said.

The Guidance and Counselling Service (GCS) at IIT Mandi is also providing active support to all the students by reaching out to them through emails and social media platforms, said Ms. Lishma Anand, Jr. Superintendent, Guidance and Counselling Service, IIT Mandi.

Keeping in mind the mental health of the students during the lock down, the GCS has prepared guidance material in the form of motivational posters and is frequently circulating it among the students.

Apart from this, a help desk is being set up by the Institute to address all academic and personal concerns raised by the students. This help desk will consist of faculty members, she said.

About IIT Mandi
Since the first batch of 97 students joined in July 2009, IIT Mandi has grown to currently host 125 faculty and 1,655 students who are enrolled in various programmes of studies in undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes, and 1,141 alumni.

IIT Mandi is a fully residential campus with 1.4 lakh sq. m. buildings completed. It has a guest house with 88 rooms, an 750-seater auditorium, campus school, sports complex and hospital.

Admission into UG medical courses, popularly known as MBBS would commence with conducting NEET UG for 2025. Candidates who pass the exam have to take part in the counselling for MBBS admission.

NEET UG 2025 registration schedule will be made known after the announcement about exam’s application submission commences.

Students who have appeared for their final year exams and are waiting for the results or students who are about to appear for the final year exams of their qualifying degree can also take up NEET UG 2025 application submission.

However, these students have to pass their exams and provide proof of it by the time of admission.

NEET UG 2025 application submission fees

NEET UG 2025 application submission fees is Rs 1700 for General category candidates and NRI applicants. The same is Rs 1600 for General-EWS/OBC-NCL category applicants.

SC/ST/PwBD/Third Gender category applicants have to pay Rs 1000 while taking up NEET UG 2024 registration.

The fee may also change due to various reasons, candidates can read information bulletin related to NEET UG 2025 application when it is released.

The process to download hall ticket is online and it can be done on the official website ‘https://exams.nta.ac.in/NEET’

3. This will likely open another website and there, they have to enter their application number and other details and submit them to view the admit card.

Point to remember

Once the admit card is visible, applicants can download and take a printout. Only those who have successfully completed NEET UG 2025 application submission will be able to download admit card.
