IIT Hyderabad incubated startup 2020: Supplies batteries to great Hcare COs
IIT Hyderabad incubated startup PURE EV is providing lithium batteries to healthcare tech companies that are engaged in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic across India.
The batteries provided by IIT Hyderabad incubated startup are being used in medical applications such as Ventilators and Robotic Sanitation Devices.
The IIT Hyderabad incubated startup supplies batteries for various applications under the brand name ‘PURE LITHIUM.’
IIT Hyderabad incubated startup, PURE EV is working on innovative applications for Lithium batteries, which it manufactures in-house.
The primary application for its Lithium battery is for its in-house manufactured electric vehicles sold under the brand ‘PURE EV.’
The advantages of Pure Lithium batteries when compared to that of traditional batteries are Pure Lithium has lesser weight which makes portability and transportation quite easy.
Pure Lithium batteries of IIT Hyderabad incubated startup are capable of providing high discharge currents.
The batteries by IIT Hyderabad incubated startup are designed to work under wide range environmental conditions with customized casings and insulation.
Added to this, the batteries by IIT Hyderabad incubated startup significantly provide longer charging/discharging cycles than standard VRLA batteries.
Chief Executive Officer of the IIT Hyderabad incubated startup Rohit Vadera said PURE EV is working with more companies to supply our batteries and we are open to collaborate with more startups working towards medical devices and applications.
‘We want to play a supportive role towards healthcare entrepreneurs. The innovative startup ecosystem in the country has to rise to the occasion and develop applications to mitigate the effects of COVID-19,’ he said.
It is worth recollecting that PURE EV, the IIT Hyderabad incubated startup has supplied lithium batteries to IIT Hyderabad Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE) incubated startup Aerobiosys Innovations, which has developed a low-cost, portable, emergency-use ventilator called ‘Jeevan Lite.’
This device offers protection to healthcare providers as well as it is Internet of Things-enabled and can be operated through a phone app.
The mass manufacturing of these ventilators shall be done by JCB India Pvt Ltd.
That is not all, PURE EV has also provided lithium batteries to Eternal Green Innovations Private Limited which is working in the space of robotic healthcare tech devices.
‘We have state-of-the-art facilities for the assembly and testing of the Lithium Battery Packs. In this critical time, we want to extend our best possible support to the healthcare tech industry for their requirements for backup power.’
The batteries designed by us are extremely useful for robotic applications and have significant advantages in terms of longer life cycles and portability, he said.
The IIT Hyderabad incubated startup PURE EV raised funding at a valuation of USD 35 million a couple of months ago.
The company also launched its high speed electric scooter ‘EPluto 7G’ in February this year.
IIT Hyderbad incubated startup also established a 40,000 square feet state-of-the-art facility which is colocated with IIT Hyderabad for cutting edge R and D and for large scale production of electric vehicles and electric batteries.
The company has current battery manufacturing capacity of 5 Megawatt hour (Mwh) per month at its facility.
IIT Hyderabad incubated startup was founded in 2016 by Dr. Nishanth Dongari, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, IIT Hyderabad, and is led by Mr. Rohit Vadera, an alumnus of IIT Bombay.
PURE EV is electric vehicle vertical of the startup PuREnergy which is incubated out of IIT Hyderabad and manufacturing high performance Lithium batteries.
The company has setup a dedicated factory in a built-up area of 40,000 sq.ft. for large scale manufacturing of electric vehicles.
The company has access to all the R&D facilities from IIT Hyderabad and strong technological support. It has raised funding from Hyderabad-based pharmaceuticals visionary V.C. Nannapaneni, Chairman and Managing Director, NATCO Pharma Ltd, in his personal capacity, which puts the startup at a valuation of USD 35 Million Valuation.
