The uniquely-designed programme MA (Society and Culture) (https://hss.iitgn.ac.in/masc/) is interdisciplinary in nature and equips the students for a variety of roles in various fields.
Unique Aspects
Highlighting the unique qualities of the programme, Prof. Vikrant Jain, Head, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Gandhinagar, said, “Interdisciplinary knowledge and skills greatly enhance our ability to think innovatively and solve problems.
IIT Gandhinagar’s courses are designed with this flexibility and interdisciplinary focus, broadening the educational experience, he said.
The MA in Society and Culture program encourages students to develop varied perspectives on social and cultural issues, enabling a deeper understanding of different academic disciplines’ interconnections, said Prof Vikrant from IIT Gandhinagar.

Financial Support
IIT Gandhinagar provides liberal financial support as well as ‘On-Campus Employment Opportunities’ programme to its students.
The Institute also encourages the MA (Society and Culture) students to present their research work at international conferences abroad and provides travel scholarships of up to Rs 60,000, say sources from IIT Gandhinagar.
Exposure
The MA in Society and Culture programme of IIT Gandhinagar provides exposure to key disciplines within the Humanities and Social Sciences, including history, cultural studies, literature, translation studies, sociology, political science and anthropology.
