1. CBSE Exam schedule
The prime news in the education world is the development related to CBSE board exams. The dates for the 10th and 12th class exams of CBSE were announced recently.
February 2 will be the day when CBSE will announce the exam schedule of CBSE 10th and 12th board exams.
Students have been eagerly waiting for the exam schedule ever since the dates for the board exams were declared.
It is the usual practise for CBSE to conduct board exams in March, however, this time the exams will be held in May keeping in view the COVID-19 situation.

2. IIT Delhi admission

Sources keeping track of education world and its developments say, plans are on to turn the institution into a place to study which will have various streams of courses.
The big point is that students willing to seek admission into these new streams may not be having the need to undergo the regular admission process of JEE.
The usual trend is to pass Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) with a good score before one can even think of applying for the admission here.
However, sources keenly following the education world say in future students may not have to compulsorily undergo JEE to get a seat in IIT Delhi.
Director of IIT Delhi during the foundation day programme said, this year or next year, they may commence admitting students from outside JEE Advanced exam.
3. Design course likely to be off JEE
The usual practise of admitting students into design course (BDes) through JEE Advanced may likely be given up.
Which means, students seeking admission into bachelors in design in IIT Delhi need not write JEE Advanced exam.
It is known that IIT Delhi admits students for its bachelors programmes based on JEE Advanced score and a seperate test is conducted to admit students into masters courses.
The idea behind this measure to remove BDes course from JEE system is to ensure students get selected based on their creativity.

4. IGNOU gives further extension
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has further extended the deadline for re-registration January session.
The last date to re-register is now February 15 instead of its earlier January 31.
Only candidates who are enrolled in undergraduate, post graduate or semester based programmes are eligible to re-register.
Re-registration can be done at the official website ‘ignou.ac.in’
Candidates can re-register for next year/semester, irrespective of whether they have completed their previous year exams/semester or not.

Indian Navy is inviting applications for admission into engineering (BTech) courses.
Candidates who complete the course will get a certificate from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and will be appointed into education, executive and technical branches of Indian Navy.
Sources keenly following the education world say the application process has been open on January 29 and February 9 is the last date to apply.

Applicants should have passed JEE Main exam with a good score and also plus-two exam with 70 percent pass marks.
Applicants passing JEE Main will be directly selected for SSB interview. Candidates with both medical fitness and passing the interview will be finally selected.

6. BITS launches management school
BITS Pilani launched its management school ‘BITSoM.’ The school is also known as BITS School of Management and will have 120 seats.

Sources in the education world say the b-school will have 120 seats and admission into this will be based on CAT, GMAT, GRE.
The institution will provide specialisation in entrepreneurship and innovation, e-commerce and digital leadership, finance and skill-specific courses.

7. Plus-two exam in Telangana from 1 May

A noteworthy development in the state is related to plus-two (intermediate) exams.
Intermediate first year exams will take place from 1 to 19 May and the same for intermediate second year will take place from 2 to 20 May.

8. Young Chef Olympiad from January 31

International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) will organised the Young Chef Olympiad 2021 (YCO 2021) in association with International Hospitality Council London.

Student of IIHM Kolkata Swetang Ranjan will be representing India.
The contest will be for five days and will have three rounds of challenges and winner will get a prize of $10,000.

9. IIM Sambalpur admission process begins

Even as the hospitality and tourism sector is planning to move ahead amidst the post COVID-19 relaxation atmosphere, educational institutions offering hotel management, tourism and hospitality courses are updating their curriculum to attract more students.
Many institutions are adding new chapters to the existing ones to expand the horizons of the course, say sources following education world.
Some of the institutions are adding lessons from healthcare to the existing syllabus of hospitality courses.
Couple of others are adding chapters related to digital marketing of tourism related products and services.

11. LSAT India exam rescheduled
There is a development in the education world that is worth noticing for law aspirants.
Law School Admission Council (LSAC) has announced to reschedule LSAT-India 2021 exam keeping in view the CBSE board exams 2021 that would take place from May to June this year.
LSAT 2021 was to be held from May 10 to June originally. However now taking into account the CBSE exam which will be held from May 4 to June 10, LSAT 2021 will be conducted from June 14 onwards on several days and time slots.
Students who wish to write LSAT 2021 before the commencement of CBSE exam can visit the official portal for the exam from 3 February to March 14 for registration, say sources following education world.
