CyberPeace Foundation comes up with great GCC contest
CyberPeace Foundation has yet again turned centre of attraction soon after it announced Global Cyber Peace Challenge (GCC) contest.
GCC by CyberPeace Foundation (CPF) is a contest held to recognise and award young talent, promote digital skills and leadership and to bring out technology enabled solutions to some urgent socio-economic challenges.
The best part of all this is the registration for taking part in GCC by CyberPeace Foundation is free of cost.
The GCC being organised by CyberPeace Foundation is the second edition. The first edition of GCC was organised in 2017.
The inaugural edition of GCC was organized in 2017 as a run-up event of the fifth edition of Global Conference on Cyber Space (GCCS) 2017 which was hosted in India.
This was organized by CyberPeace Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India and Policy Perspectives Foundation.
Other supporters of GCC 1.0 included NCIIPC, MyGov, ICANN, ISOC, APNIC, UNICEF, GIZ, Palo Alto Networks, YourStory, SBI, IAMAI to name a few.
The GCC witnessed immense response with participation from more than 50 countries and more than 2000 individuals across the world.
Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi graced the inaugural event and handed over the prizes to the winners.
Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe and Secretary General of ITU, Mr. Houlin Zhao were also present.
The stage was also shared by the then IT and Law Minister of India Ravishankar Prasad along with other Union Ministers of India.
The second edition of GCC by CyberPeace Foundation will have three parts namely, ‘CyberPeace Policy and Strategy,’ ‘Peace-a-thon’ and ‘Capture The Flag.’
The objective of the challenge is to both present technical challenges to identify talent and to tap their innovative approach to solving critical real-world problems.
Who can take part in this contest? This challenge is open to cyber peace security experts, technologists, community leaders, civil society bodies, students, developers, UX/UI designers, business analysts, education professionals, advisors, mentors, entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and investors.
That is not all, GCC by CyberPeace Foundation is open to to those who are curious about technology.
The registration for GCC began in October this year and the last date to register for GCC by CyberPeace Foundation is 15 December.
The announcement of the shortlisted participants for Peace-a-Thon in connection with GCC by CyberPeace Foundation will be on 3 January 2021.
Elimination round in connection with Capture The Flag of GCC by CyberPeace Foundation will be conducted from 3 to 15 January 2021.

The grand finale of GCC by CyberPeace Foundation will be on 28 and 29 January 2021. The winners will be announced on 9 February.

1. CyberPeace Policy and Strategy Challenge
This is a competitive scenario simulation exercise to respond to a realistic evolving international cyber crisis.
The main aim of this simulation is to understand the policy and strategy challenge associated with management of trade-offs during the cyber crisis.

Participants can themselves register for this contest of GCC by CyberPeace Foundation by visiting the GCC official website ‘www.cyberchallenge.net’
Those who wish to take part in this contest of GCC by CyberPeace Foundation must also provide their individual profile that that demonstrates their efficiency in the Strategy and Policy Domain.
The participants must adhere to guidelines while filling the form.
Entries will be shortlisted as per the data provided during the registration.
Top 50 shortlisted participants will be required to present their policy against the problem statement provided.
The problem statement will be shared one-hour prior with the participants.
A window of 48-hours will be provided for the final submission of the policy.
The participants are required to produce original ideas, content if found plagiarized will be disqualified.
Participants will be required to develop a working solution to the given problem statement.
The contest will be taking place in two parts namely – ideathon and finale.
Candidates can take part in this contest of GCC by CyberPeace Foundation either individually or as a team of three members.

A set of problem statements will be published on the website, participants will be selecting any of them as challenge to develop the solution.
Participants need to submit their idea and technology to be used at the time of registration.
Shortlisting of the participants/teams will be done on the basis of the ideas submitted.
Participants/teams must remember that one team/participant can submit only one idea.
Shortlisted participants will be called for the Grand Finale of the GCC by CyberPeace Foundation.
The grand finale of Peace-a-Thon of GCC by CyberPeace Foundation will be hosted on Zoom.
Link to join the competition will be mailed to the participants one hour prior to the start of competition.
The grand finale will be a 48-hour long event, participants are requested to be online for the whole event.
Multiple sessions will be organized for the participants during the grand finale.
3. Capture The Flag
This contest which is also a part of GCC by CyberPeace Foundation will be organised online globally.
This competition will be in two phases – Elimination Round and Finale.
Participants will be required to find the vulnerability in the CyberPeace Range created by the hosting committee.
Those who are willing to take part in this contest must register as individuals only.
Participants can register themselves by visiting the GCC official website www.cyberchallenge.net.
Participants must provide their respective profiles that demonstrates their efficiency in the cyberPeace security domain.
One entry per participant will be accepted in this contest in GCC by CyberPeace Foundation.
Participants must adhere to the guidelines when filling up the form.
Post registration participants will be given the link to elimination round.
Elimination Round will be live for three weeks and 24 IT Challenges will be created.
Primary ranking will be according to points from solved challenges.
Ties will be broken by using each teams’ average time between release of challenge to time of solution submission.
Mode will be Flag + Writeup, so teams must hand in a description of how they solved the challenge.
The Grand Finale of GCC-CTF 2.0 will be hosted on 5 and 6 December 2020.
Selected candidates for grandfinale of this contest in GCC by CyberPeace Foundation will be given the credentials of CTF one hour prior the start of competition.
A total of 12 challenges will be provided. Mode is Flag + Writeup, ties will be broken by writeup quality.
Winners of the GCC-CTF 2.0 will be announced on 10 December 2020.

Once the button is pressed, applicants for GCC by CyberPeace Foundation can choose any one of the three contests being held as a part of GCC.
They must also provide other information like their team name, details of other team members and then register.
