CBSE yet to decide on student promotions – CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) is yet to take a decision with regards to promotion of school students of classes 1 to 9 and 11. It is be reminded that amidst a situation where other education boards have decided to promote students of classes 1 to 9, a decision from CBSE is yet to come in this regard.
Tamilnadu education board has decided to promote students of class 1 to 9. Gujarat Board also made an announcement that students of classes 1 to 8 and class 11 will be promoted to the next class.
CBSE yet to decide on student promotions
However, no decision has come from CBSE. Sources from CBSE are said to have mentioned that the board only conducts 12th and 10th class exams. Their organisation is not responsible for promotion of students to other classes.
However, sources say, the decision is likely to be made after Directorate of Education (DoE) makes its decision.
Date extension
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is said to have extended the deadline for application for affiliation by schools till 30 April. This is said to have been done keeping in view the coronavirus outbreak.
It is to be reminded that the deadline for making an application for affiliation for various schools was 31 March with the requisite fee. The affiliation fall under various categories like fresh affiliation, upgradation, shifting from other boards or extension of affiliation for 2021-22.
Many schools are said to have made representations that they were not able to submit the application due to various reasons owing to the present coronavirus situation.
Sources say CBSE is said to have decided keeping in view the representations it received from various schools, the last date to submit the application fee without any late fee is now 30 April.

The decision is said to have been made keeping in view even the precautions that are to be taken in the present situation where coronavirus outbreak is causing concern.
Diksha App
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has turned creative this time and has come out with an App. The App is aimed at engaging the students in a meaningful way while they remain home during the present lockdown brought down by coronavirus.
Coronavirus outbreak has compelled many students to remain indoors and biggest challenge amidst such circumstances is to ensure they are engaged in a fruitful manner. The board has come out with Diksha App which has questions that are interesting.
The first step in downloading the App is to visit Google Play Store. Once the store is visible, students have to search for Diksha App. The next step would be to download the app by clicking on it.
After the App is downloaded and opened, students must register themselves as students. Post registration the student can enter their location and then go ahead with using the App.
Students after opening the App can search for creative and critical thinking practice on the App. Students must enter their board and medium along with their class and then move towards solving the questions.
Downloading the App is very easy and can be done by anyone. It is interesting to recollect that Ministry of Human Resource Development has come up with a scheme of providing books on the online mode for everyone to read at home.
