CBSE 12th class exams 2021 are cancelled taking into consideration the COVID-19 situation in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chairing a review meeting held on 1 May said health and safety of the students is always a top priority.
The meeting was held to discuss about CBSE 12th class exams 2021 that were postponed keeping in mind the present pandemic situation across the country.

Prime Minister said the decision was taken considering the interest of students.
The condition across the nation is not okay, students must not be forced to take exams under such circumstances, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
All the stake holders must show sensitivity for students, said Prime Minister Modi.
Officials gave a detailed presentation on the wide and extensive consultation held so far and views received from all stakeholders including state governments.
In view of the uncertain conditions due to COVID and the feedback obtained from various stakeholders, it was decided that CBSE 12th class exams 2021 would not be held this year.
It was also decided that CBSE will take steps to compile the results of class XII students as per a well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner.
The anxiety must come to an end, said Prime Minister Modi.
The Prime Minister stressed that the health and safety of our students is of utmost importance and there would be no compromise on this aspect.
He said that in today’s time, such exams cannot be the reason to put our youth at risk.
Referring to the wide consultative process, PM Modi expressed appreciation that a student friendly decision has been reached after consulting all stakeholders from across the length and breadth of India.
He also thanked the States for providing feedback on this issue.

It is natural for CBSE 12th class exams 2021 to garner so much attention owing to their importance.
A pass in these exams is essential for stepping into higher education.
Exams of such importance could not be conducted as per the actual schedule this year.
There was lack of clarity with regards to the exams. Students, parents, teachers were only wondering whether as to these exams would be held or not.
There was lot of guesswork and no one had answers.
For students these exams are of high importance, a pass in them will determine if they can attend competitive exams for higher education like JEE Mains or NEET UG or not.
It is amidst this situation, that the answer is obtained today, says K.S. Raghavan, a physics teacher with a JEE Mains coaching centre.
As the issue of CBSE 12th class exams 2021 has now become clear, students will be able to prepare for JEE Mains and NEET UG, says R. Ramakrishnan, also a physics teacher.
Sources say, even Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) too has cancelled its board exams for class 12 this year.
The same kind of situation was seen even last year year also. The board exams had to be cancelled, even then.
Good number of students wanted the exams to be conducted. However, even those who wanted the exams to be cancelled were also no less in number.
Why this divide among the students and parents? Not all felt it was safe to hold CBSE 12th class exams 2021 as the chances are high for spread of infections, while good number of people consider that conducting exams amidst the present situation is not impossible.
Now it remains to be seen as to what would happen with regards to JEE Mains 2021 and NEET UG 2021.
Good number of students want clarity as far as these two competitive exams are concerned.
Senior educationists are of the view that as CBSE 12th class exams 2021 are cancelled, students can now focus on preparing for JEE Mains and NEET UG.
