CAT 2020: Registration for the great exam to begin on 5 August
CAT 2020, the registration for this exam will begin from 5 August onwards. A notification in this regard has already been released.
CAT-2020 is being organised by Indian Institutes of Management (IIMS) and is a national level test conducted to provide admissions into various management programmes in colleges located across the country.
The notification regarding CAT 2020 was released on 29 July this year. The online registration for CAT 2020 will begin on 5 August.
The last date to register for CAT 2020 exam will be 16 September this year.
The facility to undertake correction with regards to image correction will be made available in September this year.
Mock test for CAT 2020 will be available in October this year. Admit card for CAT 2020 will be released on 28 October and CAT 2020 will be conducted on 29 November this year.
The answer key for CAT 2020 will be released on November this year and last date to submit objection will be in December this year and results will be announced likely in January this year.
The eligibility criteria to apply for CAT 2020 is that candidates must have passed a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognised educational institution.
The minimum pass marks in the qualifying exam for candidates of general category are 50 percent, the same for SC,ST, PwD category candidates is 45 percent.
There is no lower or upper age limit for appearing for CAT 2020.
Even candidates appearing for their final year exams of their qualification can also apply for CAT 2020.
However, candidates must be able to produce the final marksheets of their qualifying exam by the time the admission process commences.
CAT 2020 exam will be conducted online and will have a total of 100 questions. The questions will be in both objective and subjective type.
The total number of marks for CAT 2020 exam are 300 and time duration of the exam is three hours. Candidates have to exert care while answering the questions.
Correct answer will get three marks while a wrong answer will get one mark deducted. The questions appearing in CAT exam will be from ‘Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning’ ‘Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension’ and ‘Quantitative Ability’
The number of questions in Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning will be 32 questions. While the other two subjects will have 34 questions each.

Once the webpage downloads, candidates can click the appropriate link and register themselves. Post registration they can commence applying for CAT this year.
Candidates have to pay the application fee also while registering for the exam.
The registration fee for unreserved candidates for CAT exam is Rs 2000 while the same for ST/SC/PwD candidates is Rs 1000.
Provisional answer key will be released post CAT exam, candidates can challenge the answer key before the last date if there are any errors.

Final answer key will be released after reviewing the objections. CAT cut-off will vary from year to year.
Cut-off can be released either after the written test or after releasing the result. Candidates who have attained marks equal to the cut-off or above it in CAT 2020 can go ahead with the admission process.
Previous year saw a registration of over 2.4 lakh candidates for CAT, this year the same numbers are expected to register.
