UGC NET December 2024: Ayurveda Biology Introduced as a New Subject
Immediately after the disaster management, for Ayurveda Biology, new subject has been added by the University Grants Commission to the National Eligibility Test from the December session 2024. In that case, while applying for the new paper with the December 2024 exam application form, candidates will be able to apply to the UGC NET.
The Commission, at its 581 meeting held on 25th June 2024, has considered the recommendations of the expert committee and has decided to include “Ayurveda Biology” as an additional subject from December 2024 onwards to the present list of subjects of UGC-NET”, informed the commission.
The syllabus for the new subject of UGC NET is also available on its website ugcnetonline.in, also informed the commission.
“Ayurveda Biology is now covered as a subject in the UGC-NET exam. From December 2024, candidates can select this new subject that develops inter-disciplinary knowledge but also comprises Ayurveda – an ancient science,” the UGC informed through an X post on sharing the news.

As recently as June this year, the commission revealed that disaster management subjects would be added to the list of subjects for the UGC NET December 2024 exam.
The National Testing Agency conducts the UGC NET exam twice a year with the aim of declaring eligibility of aspirants for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), ineligibility for Assistant Professor, and admission to PhD programs at Indian colleges and universities.
