National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), established in 1974 through the merger of two premier institutions, is India's foremost centre for mental health and neuroscience education, research, and clinical services. Ranked 60th overall in NIRF 2025, NIMHANS is located in Bengaluru, Karnataka, and functions as an Institute of National Importance. The institute offers DM, MCh, PhD, and fellowship programs in psychiatry, neurology, neurosurgery, clinical psychology, psychiatric social work, and neuroimaging. NIMHANS is internationally recognized for its research in addiction medicine, child psychiatry, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative disorders.
