Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research, College of Engineering, Chennai, established in 2003 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is a leading educational institution in India. About BIHER Chennai College of Engineering is a department of BIHER (Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research) which was established in 1984. Bharath was recognized as a Deemed to be University by MHRD in July 2002. Since its inception, the institute is imparting quality education to around 10000 students from across the world. The College of Engineering offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs in several branches of Engineering and Management. It has 4 campuses located in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The college started by Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan and with Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust and this was the first self-financing Engineering College in Tamil Nadu at that time. Other colleges established by this trust are: Bhaarath Medical College and Hospital (BMCH), Chennai Sree Balaji College of Nursing, Chennai Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH), Chennai Sree Balaji College of Physiotherapy Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SLIMS), Pudhucherry Currently, the college is providing multi-stream, multi-cultural and high quality education to nearly 10000 students from around the world.
