CBSE Reduces Class 10 Maths Syllabus by 30% for 2023-24

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has undertaken a significant overhaul of the Class 10 Maths Syllabus for the academic session 2023-24, resulting in a 30% reduction. This strategic move aims to allow students to concentrate on fundamental concepts during their exam preparation. 

Major Deleted Topics 

The reduction encompasses various subjects, including Real Numbers, Polynomials, Pair of Linear Equations, Triangles, Surface Areas, Statistics, and more.

Key Deletions in Real Numbers

– Euclid’s  division lemma is no longer part of the syllabus. – The  intricacies of the decimal representation of rational numbers have been excluded.

Deleted Topics in Pair of Linear Equation

– Problems   involving equations reducible to linear equations have been removed. – The  focus is on essential concepts to streamline the learning experience.

Updated Marking Scheme CBSE Class 10 Maths

– Number  Systems: 6 mark – Algebra:  20 mark – Coordinate  Geometry: 6 mark – Geometry: 15 mark – Trigonometry: 12 mark – Mensuration:  10 mark – Statistics    & Probability: 11 mark – Total      Marks: 80
