UGET 2020: The great exam for engineering stands to be postponed
UGET 2020, Under Graduate Entrance Test 2020 which is conducted for providing admission into undergraduate engineering courses is postponed.
Sources say, UGET 2020 was supposed to be held on 1 August, but that will not happen now. The decision to conduct the well-known exam on some other date was taken keeping in view the rising corona virus cases.
Lateron, UGET 2020 was decided to be held on 1 August this year. The possibility for doing that also seems to be on the least now as certain states have gone for a complete lockdown, while some other states have imposed lockdown in certain areas.
As it would not be possible to conduct UGET 2020 in all the states under such circumstances, the decision to conduct the exam on some other date has been taken.

Added to this many applicants from Karnataka also said that they would not be able to reach the exam centres on 1 August to write UGET 2020 owing to the lockdown.
Even this factor also became one of the reason behind the decision to postpone UGET 2020. Organisers of UGET 2020 said the health is of paramount importance and that has been kept in mind.
The new date for UGET 2020 will be announced later. Applicants can visit the website regularly to know updates about the exam. The official website for UGET 2020 is ‘www.comedk.org’
UGET will have 60 questions each from Maths, Physics and Chemistry and was to be conducted in two shifts, one in morning ( 9 am to 12 pm) and the other in the afternoon ( 2 pm to 5 pm).
UGET 2020 will be held in english medium only. Each correct answer will have one mark and there is no negative marking for any wrong answers.

However, in the event of a tie in the test score the principle of least negative responses (number of wrong answers) will be adopted.
In addition, if required, other methods may be adopted to break ties. Total Marks would be 180. The syllabus for UGET 2020 is maths, physics and chemistry taught in 10 + 2/ 11 and 12th Standard/1st and 2nd year PUC.

Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation, in their endeavour to offer an effective, fair and objective testing procedure to determine merit of students seeking admission to the member institutions, have formed ‘Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK).’
COMEDK has been assigned the task of organising a common entrance test for the current academic year.
COMEDK entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed by centralized counselling (Single window system).

About UGET
This autonomous COMEDK was entrusted the responsibility to organize testing procedures to determine the merit of aspiring students in an effective, fair, transparent and non-exploitative procedure by KPCF (Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation – Medical & Dental) and KUPECA (Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association).
By this, COMEDK has been serving 16 Medical, 24 Dental and around 190 Engineering Colleges. COMEDK since its inception in 2004-05 has been conducting the annual entrance exam for Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in the member institutions and has also been organizing single window centralized counseling process over the last 15 years.
Subsequent to the National Eligibility -cum- Entrance Test (NEET) being mandated as the only acceptable entrance exam for admission to Medical and Dental courses in the country, COMEDK continues the evaluation process for the members of KUPECA i.e. around 190 Engineering colleges.
UGET will be conducted across 300 centers for engineering programs which offer around 20000 seats and will be followed by online counseling.
The said test will be held keeping in view the triple test criteria of being fair, transparent and non- exploitative and to ensure merit based admissions through a single common entrance test followed by centralized counseling.
